That's pretty cool. Is your friend old or young? You should come back and let us know how you found it.

My mate is 35. Officially the new youngest member so I'm told.

From what i believe he would be the youngest by 'the length of the straight'. Looking forward to your 'quick' review.

A couple of mates and I raked the bunkers most nights after school. In return we were allowed to play the course, never saw anyone else on the course. Fairways were nice, greens a little rough, had some wicked skins games there for $1 a hole... That was 25 years ago

That would bother me a bit if I was the only young bloke at a club. I don't mind playing with the old blokes at my club but it's always good to have a hit with someone your own age.

I played there a few weeks ago. Interesting. No signs except a tresspassing warning. Car Park is next to an old weatherboard house. Nice inside, if a little shabby. A fireplace and some leather armchairs. Nice veranda.

First few holes are a little challenging. The course is in good condition. Tees and fairways very good, not quite your private sandbelt club standard, but more that acceptable. Greens are average. They don't have the manpower to make them what they could be. The standout hole is probably the last, a beautiful par 3 back towards the clubhouse.

All in all a strange experience. You wonder what role it plays for the upper echelons of Melbourne society. I'm assuming the memebrs of this course are or could easily be members of RMGC or Kingston Heath. Back in the day it was probably a stop gap for vacationers down from the city, but now? You've got Peninsula down the road. I can't imagine it will be around for much longer. The land would be worth squillions.

Remember that back in the day, there were some exceedingly wealthy types with holiday 'shacks' at Mornington and Mt Eliza.  Which was a reasonable excursion away from the city for summer holidays.

Frankston would be a nice social relaxing club/course away from the RMCG/Metro/Vic/KH home - if you didn't have a house out in the sticks at Sorrento..

What a ripping little course this is.

Such a privelege to be able to play this track, turns it it was a charity day and i was filling in for someone that pulled out.

From what I'v been told there are only two greenskeepers that work here and the do an amazing job.

Probably helps that it doesn't get a lot of traffic

From what I'v been able to gather apparently membership is approx $1500 join and $1000 subs, or the other way around, my contact couldn't remember.

But this club is old school, you won't get in and less you know enough members.

Couldn't help but think it reminded me of Peninsula GC with it's elevation changes and heavily tree lined fairways.

There is one hole, a 120mtr uphill par 3 that just screams Sandbelt, would not look out of place at RM or VIC, KH etc.

Unfortunately it's the one hole I forgot to take a photo of.

Pics to come
