Can someone please tell me how golf link works out handicaps. I recently joined a course and played my 3 games shot 95,95,93 par is 72. I was given a handicap of 20….. My next game out after that I shot 100 and my handicap stayed the same but yesterday shot 92 and I lost a shot now 18.6 excact . I don really care but just interested on how they work it out to me it just doesn’t add up.

After you have completed 20 rounds it is the ‘played to handicap’ of your best 8 rounds, divide by 8, then multiplied by .93.

Untill you get to 20 rounds there is a sliding scale as to how many of the 8 cards are counted.

In your case when 3 – 6 cards are submitted only your lowest score is counted.

I’m not sure why your handicap changed after you put in your fifth card.

Thanks tigerblood it’s strange but at the end of the day I’m just happy to be out playing just curious to how they work

Your best round is now 92. You need to tell us your course rating (AMCR), but let’s assume it’s the same as the par, which is 72. Therefore your best round was played to a 20 differential (92 – 72 = 20).

Until you have more than six rounds, the best one only is taken, therefore 20 * 0.93 = 18.6.

I agree, Publish. The ACR must be the same as par in SAF’s course’s case.

Hi guy yes the ACR is the same
