Oh I didn’t report on last Saturdays round…

Well I suppose it was nothing to write home about, my driver was hot and cold, my irons were Ok but not great my chipping were luke warm and my putting was mediocre.

I scored 30 points, 15 and 15.

Probably my putting was the worst, I had so many putts just miss the hole it was getting ridiculous PLUS I missed maybe 3 I should have put in easily.

Fortunately I can see where those 6 points have been left on the course and I’m glad that round is now out of the way, I need to get back on track soon but I doubt I’ll have much time over the next week to practice as we have the Camera Club Xmas party here next Sunday and I have a lot to get ready!

No practice on Wednesday, the temp hit 39 here and there was no way I was going out in that.

I’ll play tomorrow morning and hitch a ride if I can to try and beat the heat. Suppose to be cooler with a chance of light showers lets hope so my poor Alpaca’s have nothing left to eat!

Today’s round: Stableford 30cm Preferred lie due to dry conditions and lack of grass in certain areas.

This means the ACR of the course is dropped 2 strokes so you need to play 2 better than handicap to play to your handicap.

Today I played pretty steady golf except for the 9th hole, played into the bunker off the Tee high side with no green to work with, almost pulled off a great shot but missed out and wiped the hole.

Scored 19 on the front.

Again played pretty steady golf, had 2×1 pointers in a row but came back with 3×3 pointers to score 19 on the back.

Total 19 + 19 = 38 points enough to lose 0.2 off my handicap and a new PB of 13.4 and playing off 13.

ALSO I’m now an “A” Grader w00hoo after the handicaps were altered to even out the numbers a bit.

So a good day of Testing out the “NEW” Vision Tour One prototype :), gotta love it!

Weather report says it’ll rain there tomorrow…....and you know they’re always right :)
Also having the tour one will have alot jealous.

While I was good off the Tee and set myself up well I pulled most of my approach shots and most of my putts were short.

Only scored 29 points….

First day of my holidays today w00hoo…

Played Stableford today in the Friday comp.

Played Ok on the front 9 with out anything spectacular happening and had one wipe ugg.

I lose 4 strokes now on the front 9 holes, 2nd, 5th, 7th and 9th makes it kinda tough but I still managed to score 17 points.

Played some good golf coming back in except for the par 5 15th hole, never touched the fairway but still scored a Par haha.

Scored 21 points coming in for a total of 38 Points!

Exact Handicap has lowered once again to 13.2 another PB.

Today was another stableford round…

Played Ok without being outstanding. No birdies today :(.

Scored 19 and 19 for another round of 38.

My chipping, pitching and putting kept me in the game. While my putting was not spectacular it was Ok.

Putting: I heard Graham Marsh comment yesterday during the Australian PGA where he said just worry about the putter being online the distance will take care of itself.

I used this and it seemed to work quite well.

I’m away for 2 weeks from tomorrow. Spending Xmas with my Sister and family.

Will be playing a round at Everglades Country Club, Woy Woy NSW and at Nelsons Bay where I hope to meet up with Grant Scott, Grant was one of the Pro’s who stayed with us during the Pro Am here in Maryborough.

Returned today, not a lot of rain here about 46mm but I’m gratfull for that much.

Played a round at Everglades (Inlaw Challenge) and found that my Driving ability had left me. Scored a reasonable 86 off the stick with a few poor decisions made in the round plus it was my first test with the Cobra AMP cell 3-4 wood. Man it flies but I’m pulling a lot of shots with it.

Caught up with Grant Scott and played Horizons with him and my brother in law, despite a few turbulent years Horizons is well and truly on the come back trail, the greens were a little slow but they had not been mowed on the day, the fairways were well grassed and most of the rough was well grassed. The course still needs some TLC but it’s certainly well on the way.

Ok so here I discovered an important difference between a course like this and Maryborough, at Maryborough if your in the trees you will likely pop out onto the next fairway and have a chance at some sort of shot, at Horizons if your in the trees your in thick scrub and snake territory the ball is dead. It really shows the need to be on the fairway.

It took me 9 holes to get my driver going as it turned out my chicken wing had returned, once I worked that out I was hitting them sweet.

I scored 92 gross 79 net.

After a so so round on Saturday morning (30 Stableford points) my wife and I headed off to Hervey Bay to see the father in law in the nursing home.

I said lets just pop into Drummonds Golf on the way well it seems that it was the last day of a sale on the Cobra AMP cell woods and they just happen to have a Stiff Shaft Driver and Hybrid in stock…..

So now I’m not getting anything for my birthday, anniversary, april fools day or St Patricks day hahahaha…

Had a hit this arvo with them, went to the course and tested them and the app Golfshot GPS ($AU28.00).

It was pretty windy but for the most part I hit them well, I adjusted the Driver to 10.5 deg but found that my flight was to high on that setting so moved it to 9.5 deg and bombed it out 250m (by GPS) into the wind phew.

Fairway wood is set to 4+ or strong 4 wood my longest with it was wind assisted 239m and the hybrid 219m.

I was very happy how I hit them all, except for 2 shots from the same location that I snap hooked almost onto another green uggg the guys putting out must have thought I was aiming for them hahaha.

GolfShot app is definably worth a look at if you have an iphone or android, I have the 7” Samsung tablet and it works a charm. Much cheaper than the other made for versions on the market.

The screen is a bit hard to see and at 7” its a bit hard to handle when walking the course. I’ll have to have a think about that one.

I think you would find that Golfshot is legal, it would only be illegal if your devise you use it on has a compass.

But I’m sure there is quite a bit of debate about it, in the end Golf is a game of honour and most places would simply allow you to use Golfshot or any other similar device on your honour that you do not use the compass, temperature or need the calculator to add up your score, BTW using the compass would not make a single stroke of difference to my game any way and I can tell North at any time I like.

Now to contradict myself, there are always a small minority who would take any advantage they can if they believe they can get away with it!

As an example: The Rookie that won the Pro Am here was found to be cheating (A month or so after playing here) and has been suspended from the APGA for 2 years. He was spotted and admitted to dropping a ball out of his pocket silly boy.

I argued the point too. Local rules can permit them as I understand. Bit like rangefinder with slope.

Today’s round Stroke.

Well today I played my new Cobra AMP cell Driver, fairway metal and hybrid for the first time and guess what I had a shocker!!

Now it was not the new clubs but my game from 150m in that killed me, I missed most of my approach shots, I miss hit most of my pitch / chip shots, I took 2 to get out of almost all bunkers and I hit a lot and I 3 putted on most greens.

This does not add up to a pretty score but managed to stay below the Ton.

On the bright side my driver was awesome, measured one drive at 256m and hit an even better one but my GPS was on the bag further down the fairway so I didn’t bother getting it and measuring it. It was however about 15m past my longest drive on that hole and it was 259m but the Tee was forward this time.

My Hybrid is nice but a little inconsistent and the Fairway wood I tend to pull so I need to work on them.

The Greens were verticut last Monday and everyone in our group struggled with putting.

Worst holes, an 11 on a par 5 and a 9 on a par 4 inc one oob on that hole.

Well better times ahead, playing this Friday and Saturday and I still have next week off.

Ouch! How come big numbers only arise when it’s stroke. Sounds like the new toys are performing nicely.
