Well lesson this morning.

My grip was a bees dick off, so we fixed that.

Then we went through the holes at Beastwood, about what I do play, what I should play.

Then I hit a few pills. Usual. Pulls left and high flares right.

My alignment was absolutly shithouse, I was aiming 30 metres right with my body. I didnt realise that.

So we straightened that up, and gave me a slightly different pre shot routine.
It worked.

But he did tell me to get a 5 wood instead of my 17* Nickent hybrid.
Good thin its my birthday soon!!

So what’s the new game plan around Eastwood, Rob ?

To be honest, Garth was very close to your synopsis of my tee shots.

But basically, the major changes were to hit an iron of 1, play it as a par 5.
Mostly just to play for my own par, not course par, which I have been getting to focused on. Im no were near good enough for that sort of play.

So try to get 36 points any way I can, not necassarily with the longest few clubs in the bag.

The changes are ust until I get my monkey rooting swing in control a bit, then I can go to driver a bit more and 3 wood as well

Good work mate, is he getting you to send him game reports? Most of the time it’s just so he can see how you going, sometimes he’ll give you some feedback on where your going wrong.

Muzz, its not a distance thing, its a workability thing i think.
My 2 hybrid just comes of low and doesn’t get the necessary height to be able to play a draw or hook with it.
I think it has to do with the slightly round face on a fairway wood?

Buggered if I know. I see results, I do what he tells me!

Intersting that he suggested the 5w rob, i would have thought a 4 Hy 20-21 deg would be closer in performance to a 5 wood , good luck mate , hope to hear some progress

Dave a 5W is about 18.
My 2H is 17

My 4H is 23 and my 3H is 20
No were near 2H/5W distance.

I think the main difference between the 2 is ball flight and trajectory, but I could be wrong

I must say, i even impressed myself!

PW, 9, 8 and 7 were things of beauty. Hitting to diffent distances is great fun, and these were all lasers at 100m. Most werewithin easy 2 putt distance. A fair few just tap ins.

6and 5 itons were strange. Iwas hitting them fat and of the toe. I think because im not used to mats, and i kept feeling my heels were hanging of the mat end. So i was thinking anout my feet and not of hitting the ball.

No hybrids or 3W. But driver was awesome. Hit a fair few over 3 different sessions. Most were straight and LONG. A couple of small cuts which i was happy with but quite a very damn long 2 or 3 metre draws. I was fuggin stoked. Ive never hit a constant draw with a driver ever!

So happy, im going to bed!

I can relate, Rob. I went to Montuna range this afternoon to “groove” my shots…...... after my playing lesson last week. Definately something in the drill that the pro got me to focus on.

Driver was great for a change and they were really flying further than normal. (May be the warmer weather)

Anyway, I’m looking forward to my next game on Friday to see how it pans out in playing conditions.

Played the back 9 at Beastwood today of the blues.

Hole 10.
5W to the left corner, just in the trees. Small chip out, runs down to 20 out. Pulled a PW chip to LH side of green 2 putts for a 5

Hole 11
Small push driver into the left rough, only just of FW. Bare lie, 8i to just in LH rough. Very dodgy chip on, 2 putts for a 5

Hole 12.
Shithouse really.
Very low pulled driver into the bunker. Perfect 9 iron out, just clipped a branch, dropped straight down, rolled into RH rough. Great 5W to short LH. Dodgy chip, rolled of the back. Duffed chip, 3 putts for an 8.
Driver was not the shot to play, stupid mistake

Hole 13.
Excellent 3W to RH fairway, 7i just clipped a branch, and slipped into LH trees. Small punch out to short RH. Good chip, 2 putts for a 6

Hole 14.
Very easy 6i into the wind, 15 feet for birdie, 3 inches, tap in par.

Hole 15.
Not a pretty drive, to the centre of fairway. Flubbed a 5i to about 5m short of green in fairway, great chip, 1 putt Par 4

Hole 16.
3W to RH edge, just in rough, 5W to RH edge agin. Easy 8i up the hill onto green. 2 putts for a Par 5.

Hole 17.
Atrocious 6 i into closest bunker, excellent bunker shot to 5 feet, lipped out par putt, tap in 4

Hole 18
Shonky 3w, to LH cart path. 3H to middle of green, but wrong level, Easy 2 putt par.

So par 37, shot 44.
Ended up with 21 points, so pretty bloody happy. Driver misbehaved, so should have taken 3W more than I did. Could have been better.

3 wood rh side of Fairway, PW in just short, Excellent chip 1 putt par 3 points

11th hole. Par 4
Very low 3w to middle of just of rh fairway. 5 iron to short left. ok pitch. 2 putts bogey 3 points.

12th hole. Par 5
Very low 3W to centre fairway. Perfect pulled 7i to lh trees, chip out. Chip on, 2 putt bogey. 2 points.

13th hole Par 5
Excellent 3w centre fairway. 7i down the hill, just caught an overhead branch, but it was exactly were I aimed it. Small punch out to RH edge.
Super chip, 1putt par 3 points

14th hole par 3.
nice 8 iron to left centre of the green, lipped out putt, par. 3 points

15th hole Par 4
Ordinary 3wrh trees. great punch out. 8i in, short rh side. fantastic chip, 1 putt bogey 2 points

16th hole Par 5 .
3w rh Fairway. 3w to centre of fairway. 9 i on to rh side, lipped out putt par. 3 points

17th hole Par 3
6iron down the hill, perfect distance, just a touch left into bunker. left first one in there, but to close to lip. 3 more, still hit lip every time.

18th hole Par 4
Hooked 5w into trees. 5i to just of left edge. ok chip 2 putt bogey 2 points.

1st hole Par 4.
Really went after a 3w, horrid slice into rh trees. chip out hit a tree, dropped straight down. another chip out ok. wedge on to front edge. 2putt double bogey 1point

2nd hole Par 3.
Got lucky here. Pulled a 6i, hit a branch, shot forward to front cut, just of gereen. OK chip, 2 putt bogey 2 points

3rd hole. Par 4.
Awesome 3H, dead centre, great PW centre of green. 2 putt par 3 points.

4th Hole Par 4
Nice 3w, rh side of fairway. Excellent 7i, just a touch short. Nice chip. 2 putt bogey, 2 points

5th Hole Par 5.
3 wood to Rh 1st cut. Nice 7 iron, just a touch fat, trickled into rh rough. Very low driver to get under the branches. Slightly pulled 9i into bunker, great bunker shot, crap putt. Double bogey 1 point.

6th hole Par 4.
Great 3w to centre fairway. Great 7i up the hill, touch short. Stubbed a wedge into bunker. Holed the bunker shot!. Par 3 points.

7th hole Par 4
Couldnt get comfy on the tee. Walked of it twice. Hit 3w onto 6th fairway. Awesome 3H to short left. Awesome chip to 5 inches. PAr. 3 points.

8th hole Par 3
Nice 5i, short of green. Not a great chip, but not bad. Just couldnt stop it. Went to fringe on other side of green. 1 putt Par 3 points.

9th Hole Par 4.
My nemesis! Sweet 3H just long of dog leg, great 7i up the hill, just short. Stubbed a wedge, change club, nice little wedge, 2 putt double bogey. 1 point.

But I went around in 40 points! At least 6 shots better than any other round here. I am stoked!

8 fairways, 3 greens and 27 putts.
