GG, yep, hit more greens have more putts, esp if you don’t knock down the pin as you say. Koiom had 28 putts, but his approach shots weren’t on for the day, his chipping was. He left most short, then ran a chip real close and tapped in. Had 6×1 putts in a row!

So yeah, must measure putts against GIR etc.

I struggled with the greens there too, had 34 putts (2×3 putts both GIR, 4×1 putt) , but should have been less but I never chipped close enough, it’s the area I need most work on, will save me half a doz shots at least if I really get on top of it.

Yesterday I replayed a few chips, second one was always really close, one I sank for hypothetical bird. It’s like I need to see what to do first, then I can nail it. Gotta improve my imagination I guess.

Seems though like you are real close, just need the time to spend on chipping/putting, which you can do at home BTW, pull ya finger out and get back to low teens where you should be bitch.

CB80 – I count the GIRs yesterday because – well, because! Ha ha. Its the going stat and wanted to speak with terms/stats that everyone could understand and relate to.
I certainly do approach my game with a personal par concept in mind and have found that of late, I have been quite accurate from 50m through to 140m ie 60 deg lob wedge – 8 iron. Considering we were teeing off the whites yesterday with most Par 4’s being less than 320m, Driver was working (as you saw first hand, and LD win can support this) I was no more than a 9i distance at any given time, and that was the distance that I was aiming for all day and it paid off. The putting was really letting me down – whilst most of my first putts werent super long, they were super stupid. The number of times I had to sink 8-10ft second putts was insane. Need to go back and conquer the greens.

Stinki Kunti – My up and down stats are usually quite strong and considering I have been averaging 28-32 putts per round of late, Sunday was an aberration. Throw in the fact that I havent putted on those greens for over 2.5 years, didnt even get a practise putt in the morning because I was too busy yakking, 40 was about all I could hope for. Like you – I just couldnt see the pace of the first putt – and quite oftern left myself with just as long a second putt on a lot of occasions. Just one of those days where I didnt ‘feel’ the putter. I missed about 8/9 4 footers, putts that I would usually sink with my eyes closed. Had 3 birdy lip outs and you get the picture of my putting game. Mate – happy to call a draw on the off the stick challenge. I am glad that we even drew off the stick. Lets hope that its a sign of some change.

Kiwi – 4 bashing on any green is very frustrating. I managed to do that on the 17th – 37 pts with two holes to go. 5 for 1 pt on the 17th left me with a strong bittersweet taste in the mouth. It was the LD on the 18th that got me back on, nailing the LD gave me a sense of ‘invincibility’ that carried through to the approach which I knocked to about 10 ft. First putt ran 15 ft past the hole, and sunk the return putt for par. Go figure. PS kunny Funt on the home front LOL. Had me in stitches in the office!

Geez. All blown out of proportion! Last time I’m playing a round with djcraig. Creative license and everything taken into consideration when retelling a story but geez, 6 putts? What an embellishment! It will probably grow in number with each retelling.

With that said its all true and correct and damn the little man for including that in the report ha ha ha. Lucky he is going OS otherwise I’d have to put a cap in his ass.

Despite the shit golf, it was a pretty funny day and all told I came home with about 45 putts or so. Haven’t tallied it up but pretty sure it wasn’t less than that. Just one of those days where I just wasn’t hitting it well, hung back on the back foot and just kept chunking it. Stiff wind didn’t help our cause, but neither did my lack of ability. Oh well, but as they say there is always next week and I’m glad I peaked in the correct week!
