Seeing as we have a thread for the best Bunkerless hole why don’t we find out what is the best bunkered hole

14th at Commonwealth

Road hole or 17th at the old course. The greenside bunker makes the approach difficult on this long par 4, and brings the road behind the green into play. Was rated the hardest hole in the 2005 Open.

Overseas = 17th TOC Australia = 15th (Old) Wollongong

Surely this post has been made in jest. The debacle of the appalling fairway bunker on the 14th at Commonwealth was the primary reason for Tony being given his marching orders from Commonwealth many months ago. Perhaps only rivalled by the equally appalling fairway bunker he built on the 6th at Commonwealth as the single worst fairway bunker built on a top tier sandbelt courses in living memory (note, I have not see the new work at Yarra Yarra!) Haven’t played too many of the great courses, but one would have to be the 15th at kingston heath just for the beauty (read horror by less qualified golfers:P). I’d say no. 2 there is my favourate par 4 for bunkering, no. 13 at woodlands is my favourite bunkering for a short par 4.

The 8th at Royal Aberdeen is a ripper, par 3 of only 133m but surrounded by 10 lethal traps. The green is nearly 40m long & only 8m wide.Played it last year & hit 6 iron due to the wind & had a monster putt.These are real bunkers to punish wayward shots & are visually striking.In general the bunkering at Aberdeen is scary & beautiful at the same time.

5th at RM, 15th at the Heath. Just about anything at RM, really.

Joondalup (Quarry nine), 4th hole. How bloody long is that bunker? And if you have the misfortune to get in there, how many get out again first go?
