Hi Perthites,

Are there any takers for a second ISG Golf Day in Perth. biggrin.gif

Maurice is hoping to be in Perth sometime in March for about a week, so could all who are interested let me know.

Also which course and what day. wink.gif

Gordon

Count me in.
And if you are interested, with a bit of prior notice I can get us on to Hartfield on sundays.

V4...that would be great... smile.gif
Invitational Comp???

Non-Members or members of other clubs with AGU handicaps could play in the club comp. Otherwise we could create our own.

Put me in as a likely starter, depending on the actual date.

Hey Trek and v4, our social club is playing at Hartfield in just under a fortnight,
Sunday Feb 13.

I expect you will be playing off the 10th tee fairly early. I will be there playing at around the same time so I will keep an eye out and say G'day.

Yep it's a 7:00am tee off time.

You will probably be teeing off at the 10th. When you get around to the third hole there is a temporary green 55m short of the original green. The original is being totally rebuilt and when I went there tuesday it was a sandpit. They do have 100m posts but no 150m posts on that hole.

did a quick check - I think it's an invitational day at RPGC on the Sunday I'll be in town...

Thanks for the heads up. Are those 100m posts the correct distance to the temp
green?

They tell us that they are, so I think so. That hole almost always plays into the wind and I have only played it once so it is hard to tell.

That was one of the holes I actually got a decent drive away on (see my tale of
woe on the "how you played on the weekend" thread). Was about 10m shy of
the second group of mounds on the right and had a partial SW to the temp green.
Misjudged it and came up short. It "felt" difficult to "feel" the distance to this
temp green.

I think I tend to "feel" how hard to hit partial shots by judging
visually rather than by distance, e.g. whether its 55m or 65m. Full shots though
I always go by the markers as I've been fooled too many time visually!

Mind you on some courses that I play regularly there are certain holes I get to
know where I am certain that the markers are not accurate after hitting the
"correct" club in but regularly being either long or short (even though the same
distance is correct for the same club on other holes).

When that third hole is finished, there will be a fairway bunker running from those second group of mounds back about 25m toward the tee. Right about where you played from.
I had the same trouble with 3 on saturday and sunday. I am going to try hitting rescue club or 3 iron off the tee next week and give myself a full shot in.
Talking about full shots and distances, there are a couple of holes at Hartfield where the markers are accurate, having been measured by laser, but you can't take your normal club. On 16, from the right side of the fairway, the 150m mark plays more like 160m. On 8, because of the downhill nature of the right side of the fairway, you generally need to take about a half a club less when there is no wind, or a full club more when there is even a slight headwind. In fact, Hartfield looks so straightforward at first glance but is full of these kind of subtleties, especially some of the greens that tend to break the opposite way to what they look. The old number 3 was our Pennants Teams secret weapon. When the pin was back right, A Grade players from other clubs would aim for a large right to left break. The green actually broke left to right away from the hills. It would actually be funny to see a plus handicap player putt a ball right off the green because he had misread it so much.

I should have mentioned that all the guys from our social club were very
impressed with the course, both the layout and the condition of the fairways
and greens. A good time had by all.

That's great, I'll pass it on to the club. The fairways were scarified and the greens cored again a couple of months ago and both have come back as good as ever. Even the older members aren't complaining at the moment, which is saying something.

Has anyone gotten any further with organising an ISG day??

hi V4,

I emailed Maurice to find out what dates he & Jean would be in Perth, but as yet no reply.

No other person has given a definite date although there are about 5 possibles.

Gordon

woops...sorry Trek...

Perth Golfers,
Maurice & Jean are available as per above.

Saturday 12th March is Opening Day @ Hartfield.

Hartfield is normally open to the public on Mondays & Tuesdays as well as having a Club Comp for men on Tuesdays
As per an earlier posting by V4 we could either run our own group or run a split group those with AGU/WGA handicaps and those without official handicaps. Although it would mean a split of the group we would still be playing the same course.

So let us know your preferences.

Gordon

Perth Golfers,

I had a round of golf with Nigel Leaves this A.M. and discussed the ISG Golf day.

He flies out to the States this weekend and returns on Saturday 12 March.

His vote is for Hartfield tuesday 15 March.

If we play in the morning then those with AGU handicaps can play in the Rebels comp and those without AGU handicaps play the course in reverse. We could then all meet in the club house & have a light lunch as a group.

So please let me know so that arrangements can be made and costing can be ascertained!!!

Happy Golfing

Gordon

Gordon,

I have spoken with the club and if there is enough interest we can have two tee times (7.34am and 7.41am) on Sunday 13th March. That gives us up to 8 people. Sundays normally aren't open to the public but the Club Manager is willing to bump the juniors back two spots to fit us in between a Social Club and them. Best of all we will all be playing together.
We will need to confirm by the end of this weekend to lock in the spots.

Greg

jean and myself will be good for anytime...
I "may" have a golfin buddy join us on our trip to Perth, but I can't confirm till abt a week's time...

Hi Greg & Mau,

It seems as if Perth ISG members aren't too interested!! mad.gif

As I posted earlier Nigel is in the USA until the saturday and his preference is the tuesday. biggrin.gif

As for me I am unable to play on sundays at this stage so I am happy smile.gif with tuesday.

Hopefully we will get a few more people interested. unsure.gif

Happy golfing

Gordon

Ok, I'll contact the club and cancel those tee times.

no worries, we can hook up for a game anytime on the weekday... smile.gif
