What's it like living in a country town?
Beware of cheap imitations - Especially from the US |
|
its great, there is a golf course in the cbd and a house 15 minutes from town only costs 300k

Pretty cool actually And we have traffic lights Just havent worked out what to do with them yet?

I've been here nearly 12 months, not officially a member of
anywhere here yet, play most of my golf in the sandbelt I'm comfortable with traffic lights, can't work out how more people don't die on the roundabout at Vic Park, don't understand why drivers have so much trouble using merging lanes elsewhere though.

Hi all, 3 years ago I was a sandgroper, then became a Mexican Melburnian, but now the missus has convinced me to try being an Adelaidian for a change. We'll be across by the end of this week and I'll be on the courses next week (subject to job interviews, wife shopping trips, relly visits, etc). I've normally played the Patawalonga courses on our christmas visits but now that I'll be a local I'm keen to try out the other tracks around Adelaide. Thanks Tim and Che for your suggestions and comments on the other courses http://www.iseekgolf.com/fo.... I'll probably look at joining a club in Adelaide and this will plant my feet in the same city for a while... intherough

Man are you in for a surprise when you next see the Pat. I had a look at the revamped front 9 today & hit off a few of the new tees. It's looking sweet. Pete O thinks it will speed up play by around 15 min a round. YAY! Several of the new tees will be open in a couple of weeks. Foundations for the new pro shop are set too.

Excellent. I saw the work that they were doing on the front in December but wasn't sure when they were opening them up for play. Have they opened up the 2nd yet or is there still the temp green on the 7th/8th? Yep, looking forward to getting back for a bat at the Pat and getting blown around by the "gentle" afternoon sea breeze.

Yeah im an Adelaidian too. I have not played golf in about a year, too busy and no time to practice. Played pretty much every known public/private courses. Not a member anywhere. For public courses close to town, The Pat is a good course, the wind makes it a little tricky, i have not been for a while, look forward to playing it with the new changes. I used to play with mates at North Adelaide (South Course), not a bad track and cheap green fees. Gawler is a nice track, a little far to drive, but still nice. Played Royal Melbourne a few times, didnt really like it too be honest, nothing special. I liked Grange though, if i had the time and dollars i would like to be a member there, really enjoy both east and west courses. Courses in woop woop/Fleurieu Peninsula/south of Adelaide i really rate are McCraken & Lady Bay, awesome tracks without doubt. Highly recommended.
Hey Timatldg ill be heading down to the range on Sunday to get
fitted for my 3 wood, might see you there, you might be able to
give me some tips on my swing

my old man used to be a member at grange when i was very young. he spent yaers on the waiting list when we lived in westlakes, then got his membership just as we moved to golden grove. it was too far for him to go and he ended up letting it lapse. i think i played a round there once. was very nice.

2nd is still closed for another few weeks. 8th is playing as two holes with a temp green by the bunker in the fairway.
Sorry mate that's my day off but have fun with the boys.
I'm sure we'll catch up.

Hey all, Only discovered this site yesterday - joined up straight away. I'm a member at North Adelaide. Guaranteed time slots every Tuesday and Thursday ams (6:30 -7:30 approx) and Sat (6:45 -8:06 and 10:10 -11:15). Cheapish too (compared to the "big" clubs.) Get in touch if you're interested! (Oops - am I allowed to do this in my first post?!?!)

Only in your first post. It's a bit like not getting out on
the first ball in backyard cricket.

Im playing the South Course this Saturday, early at around 7am
with some mates. Shall be interesting, has it changed much since
a year ago, i have not played in a while!
|
|
ahh yep. I reckon I saw you coming out of a golf shop on South Tce a week before last? You have the wagon right?
|
|
Not much at all really. Bunker by the green on 4 has been altered, the 2 bunkers in front of 6 are now one huge one. Bit of extra retaining wall here & there.
