looking to have a go at golf again after so long. Charlestown Golf Course will be a good setting!

Gunna revive this for what its worth! How many of us in Newcastle and immediate areas and do you reckon we could organise something to meet a few of the boys and girls if there are any? I will be in anything but a shite sandwich so some suggestions please and see if we can get something going. After Novacastrians for this but of course all ISGer's are welcome!
Hands up please! And course suggestions too!

When Heritage comes back and I don't know when it comes back as a 9 holer! Crazy but Mccloy is the one with the brass. I am still a member of Tamworth and will use that as it is reciprocal with all the Newcastle clubs except Fern Bay. Available for a hit anywhere at most times if interested? Couple of days notice and I can arrange things! Last game I had was at Cypress Lakes. Mate boughta tee time off ebay. $35 a head!

Up the road a bit but only 1.5 hours for me to play in Newcastle.
I don't live in Newcastle, but Newcastle Golf Club is one of the clubs I am a member at. I get up there about once a month.
Andrew! Much drama getting a game at Newcastle? I am going to have plenty of time very soon with impending early retirement(redundancy) and I am going to play EVERYWHERE!!!!

No drama, but playing without a member will cost about $90. If you play with a member it's only $40. The only exception to that is on the last Friday of every month when they have an open day comp where you can play at guest rates whether invited by a member or not. The only problem is, it's a very small comp, so you are better to take a friend along so you are sure of getting a game in the comp & therefore paying less. I'm away for the next 3 days, but send me a PM if you want & we can organise a time to have a hit there together.

Andrew would you know if the open friday comp will include Australia Day? My friends and i are looking for somewhere to play on the 26th and that would be ideal. daacha

Close enough to newcastle (Central Coast), and a member at

Only a few hours down the road from Newie - if you made it a
Saturday I'd come over for the weekend for a game

Australia Day is listed in my fixture book as a normal 'Tiger
Tee Challenge' (that's what they call them), so I would
assume it is still open. You are still best to ring the pro shop,
because they sometime make changes.
Thanks Andrew, We are booked in at 7.30.
Daacha, I hope you have an anjoyable day. The Tiger Tee challenge will have you playing the course as a par 70 measuring 6345m, with the 4th & 13th being called par 4's, although holding the same length. Of course, being a stroke event, it doesn't really matter. The last one I played a few months ago was pretty windy & the course rated 78, 8 over par.

Thanks Andrew,
Looking foward to it. Only one of the boys has played there
before. Tougher than Cabra is it?
The toughest part of Cabra is avoiding getting bashed by a
certain former Canterbury/Bankstown player on the 18th green.
Only if you're slow.
Played Newcastle GC for the first time on Australia Day and the course is excellent. Very tough, very long Par 4's & 3's and deadly if you aren't hitting it straight. The course is like a mixture of St Andrews Beach (wide sweeping fairways with lots of elevation changes) and National Old. Can't wait to have another hit with knowledge of the course. daacha

Antonio, Lived in Tamworth for 12 months after i split from the dragon and joined then(2001). have always lived nearby, Quirindi & Murrurundi, and know a few blokes from that way. been in Newy for 6 years now and always looking for someone to have a game! actually know a bloke in Tamworth that i went to school with and he had "sharky" as a nickname! his name is Mick. I see Terry Hayes is still teaching up that way! Great bloke and great instructer!

I've had a couple of lessons from Terry over the years but always wish I'd had more. I played Shortland on Sunday and I kinda wish I'd stayed in bed. Rain, mosquitos, recently cored and very hairy greens, just not much fun.
PM me if you want to line up a game. Somewhere other than
Shortland ATM
