Just getting back to Team Frank, and it’s chances of success at Heidelberg …........

Did you know that Heidelberg is indeed the first ever OOM event that is going to played on a true hill’s type course …. why is that, do you wonder?

Out of the previous 10 OOM events, not one has ever been held on a hill’s course.

Some of the more cynical types (conspiracy theorists) may opine ........ that it’s due to the fact that some of the committee may consider themselves to be “flat track specialists”, who therefore have a severe aversion ….. to walking up and down inclines (and in the process, shooting less than 30 points).

Far be it from me, to put myself in that camp of conspiracy theorists …..... but it does make you wonder …...... that were it not for a twist of fate …...... Heidelberg would never have been selected as an Order Of Merit venue.

Indeed until recently, yet another flat track was designated as the venue for Round II .... so for the first time ever, a true “Hills course” has slipped through the committee’s filtering system, and it now offers up a first ever chance … to the hills specialists amongst the field.

Speaking of which, Frank is well credentialled, as the Captain, and backbone of the “The Gay Faders” who are the inaugural and current holders of the Rotary Club Charity Day Champions title …......

An event won on the hills and inclines of Cardinia Beaconhills, and of which, Frank played no small part. (The small part was played by Kiwi naturally enough on the day, as he fitted the costume.)

As of today though it’s one month exactly until Frank shakes off the mantle of “The Best Player Never To Have Won An Order Of Merit Event” ... (and we can all get some sleep) ..........

So please with only a month to go now …...... book your seats early for the big day…..... and bring along some extra folding stuff to spend at the “Frank’s Finally Effin Won One” sue veneer stand.

There are some cracking hills at Heritage to “take the wind out of you” example the walk up to the 12th tee on St John course

As you well know GPJ I like hilly courses and have a good track record at Beaconhills and play well there in the Beaconhills Invitational Classic(BIC) and of course made a bit of a contribution to the gay faders team.

The course selection committee is very aware of the need to have a variety of different course types to sort out the games of all OOM players, we dont always want to have big monsters that favour the wild go for it types

We believe Heidelberg will stand up as a good test for the OOM as will favour a keep it in fwy type of player and reward good shot making, rather than just smashing it.

This OOM will be won by a player and one cannot exclude Francie who can nudge it around, pick up 2 pointers with odd 3 pointer on card.

39 -40 points will get the prizes here, so Frank will need to play somewhere around 3 -4 better than his current H cap.

We’re addressing his game from the pin … back on up the hole.

And as we all saw today, Frank’s short game is pretty bloody special at times …... so it’s his irons over the next couple of weeks, and then finally just before the event, it’s driver practice time …....

Frank could if he wanted, just use his hybrid around The Berg, but we’ll do a touch of work on taming the fade a bit more ….... but Frank is looking pretty bloody good for The Berg I reckon, and we certainly don’t want him to peak to early, so it’s steady as she goes.

Whenever I look at the title of this thread I imagine everyone huddled around one of those games of ‘operation’ with francie’s face on it trying to remove his fade with tweezers.

............sounds like I can get away with the hybrids at H/Berg. Plenty of golf between now and OOM #2….just need to hit the driver a little straighter when it’s needed. It can happen but sometimes not necessary…..like when I played Latrobe.
