Mr wallet confirmed it is stroke play for the day Also if you only playing 18 holes you start with the group you are in and after 18 holes you just pull out I have seen a bit of the draw but its not finalised so i wont say what tee we are off or what time @all guys and gals the baccus marsh open has been a good success the field is full of 27 rounders and there is only a handful of 18 holers to go even though there is bbq provided at the end of round or when they do provide it, they will also be having a bbq on the 13th hole my better half will be there from 6:30am right to the end of day helping out with the bbq wether it will be the 13th or the overall bbq so give her a hard time as possible but most of all enjoy the day cheers

Guys just to let you guys know some temerary local rules: In accordance with Rule 33-2, all bare patches on closely mown areas (i.e. fairways, greens and aprons of greens) may be treated as GUR and as such players may seek relief. If a player’s ball comes to rest in a bare area: · On a fairway or apron of a green, the player may treat the area as GUR and seek relief by lifting and dropping the ball within two club lengths NO NEARER THE HOLE. · On a green, a player may treat the area as GUR and seek relief by lifting their ball and placing it away from the damaged area NO NEARER THE HOLE. and 3rd hole there is 2 new mounds 1 has new grass on it and you must keep off them 5th hole there is a gur right beside the magnetic ball catcher tree 10th green right hand side from roughly the 150 mark down to 100 metere mark is GUR 11th tee also down the right hand side of the tree lines there is gur and is posted by white markers Smergs, myself and the polly will help you out here on the day if you get trapped in this gur 13th hole green if you find yaself in bare patch you are allowed to lift clean and place no nearer the hole Myself, the polly, smergs and yougottahitit will guide you on that on the day 14th hole left hand side greenside bunker is a compulsary gur and must take relief This may change before then as bunker shaping has been completed just needs the soil to be removed from its current location cracks or embedded stone you may also take relief as no near er the hole at the nearest point of relief Just be weary when teeing of the 12th hole there is out of bound that runs down the left hand side… the tee off is a narrow chute which is treeline however if you hit the trees on the left hand side and ya ball flicks hard left you could be out of bounds and it is staked Those of us that are in carts no carts are allowed with in 10 meters of the green and there is No carts Signs marked as well as you can not take carts into the rough Guys please also be mindful of your speed of play on this day as it is a full field and it is stroke play so please hit a provisional ball if you are not certain as where ya ball has gone try to play ready golf cheers

despite the local temporary rules that are in place the course is in rather good nick condidering we didnt have a greenkeeper for about 3-4 months and the new greenkeeper only started in janruary and has done some good work to get the course back to where it is today. Some of the temporary rules above i really dont think is really necessary as the ground cover is still quite good

Don’t worry Frank, Oz is just doing his due dilligence. To be honest mate, the course is in pretty good shape considering the staffing issues and the amount of rainfall. There are areas of GUR but really only the stuff on 10 and 11 might come into play. If you hit the others, well, you get what you deserve really… :) We’ll navigate you through no problem…
BMan’s Big Bendigo Slog – 7th July, be there! You know you want to. VTP #008 |

Hmmmm, .. GUR on the fairway, GUR in the bunker on 14 …... and GUR on the greens …..... WFT? Are we playing a golf course, or a construction site? Frank, I reckon we bring a hard hat, some steel capped boots, and a couple of High Vis vests …...... as I reckon Worksafe will probably be all over this joint.

Frank, I’d also suggest we bring a bbq and a few snags …........ just in case we’re the last to finish …....... you know it makes sense.

Yep…looks like we’ll be in the last group…...furtherest point of the course and the BBQ will be packed up when we get back….might bring the old clubs as well (don’t want to damage the Mizzies).....as the course sounds a bit rough. ;-)

Well so long as they don’t serve up any Lamb Shanks, Frank…. as that would be the final coup de gras, I reckon. Actually, I’m looking forward to playing some “country golf” as its very enjoyable and relaxed I reckon .... eg the Bendigo day and the Trentham tournament week), last year. So hopefully, the Marsh may be something similar. Just on using your old clubs though, and I have a set of nice Arnie Palmer cavity backs you can use (if you don’t want to risk even your HG’s.) The Arnie’s certainly cut a swathe thru even the firmest of bare lies, so you should be right with them, if you so wish Frank. I believe they used a couple of his iron sets beginning in 1859 …... to dig out the Suez Canal, (The Suez took ten years to complete, so they probably should have got his matching wedge set and then, they might have finished it in only 7). If it happens to rain on the day, the cavity backs on them are also good place to seek shelter. Anyway, just let me know if you want them Frank …....( to save your HG’s)...

I have no doubt that I will find all of the areas of GUR mentioned above….......it sounds like every second hole and mostly right, which is where I will fade too…..
|
|
It’s ok Gaz. The HG’s are made of the tuff stuff.

Thats right, sorry, I forgot they were born at the time of the iron age …... which started all those years ago in Anatolia (Also known back then as Asia Minor) in around 1200 BC. It was that famous greek bloke, Henry Griffitts Leviticus wasn’t it, who first dropped a load of ore into a pot ….... and out came that very first 3 iron ….... and the one you still play today..

Henry Griffitts Leviticus wasn’t it, who first dropped his load of shit into a pot ……. and out came that very first 3 iron ……. and the one you still play today.. well that would be pretty stupid teeing up a draw and trying to hit it… would much rather hit a golf ball then a draw
