I looking to play golf with people on a regular basis. Almost got my handicap (playing my third card this weekend)

Are you keen to join a club bossman? , sounds like youve been bitten by the bug, if you really want to improve, join a club and get involved in reg comp, only way to make real progress

Hi Boss. Come and see the Olinda Club guys out at Emerald golf course. We tee off @ 11:00 on Sats and 9:00 on Tues. Visitors welcome. I’m not working at the moment and happy to have the odd extra round as well.

boss with that kinda commitment you sound like you’d get great value from a membership. Has anyone mentioned Beacy hills, a pleasant 20 min drive , we are blessed with a 27 hole championship course that can be played all year round and with gents comp on Tues/Thurs, sat/Sun plenty of value to be had from a $1079 membership, that’s right nil joining fee, but get in quick…

Club is going well, it’s the course that’s suffering. Course maintenance is not what it should be. Greenkeeper has cancer, been off for months doing chemo, replacement not as good. Owner’s wife has been complaining for 20 years that the course is losing money (but gaining appreciation in land value) and wants him to flog it off. They have bought some new equipment which has helped. But it still costs labour hours to turn taps on and off, mow greens and scrape bunkers. I expect you’ve been talking with John B who went to see you this week for iron fitting. John was working for the course, but they cut his hours back to an impractical level. The course pays terrible rates so, for the most part, they get what they pay for. For those of us who play regularly, we can see the course going in the same direction as the Olinda course went. But it wouldn’t take much to get rid of a few weeds and mow the course a little more often.

Bossman, if you are after a membership, Beacon Hills is a reasonable course but dearer than Olinda@Emerald where you can play every day for $14 per week.

Bossman – There is a club at Morack called Creekside – they play Saturday & sunday mornings – good bunch of people and always looking for new members – I think Membership is around $230.00 plus green fees (public course)
