I hope everyone has enjoyed OOMBET this year and found it a bit of fun.

Thought more people might have jumped in on it, and the number of punters kept falling.

I’d be interested to hear if people are keen for me to run it again next year. It’s a little bit of work, but it’s worth it if we can get a few people joining in.

BMan and I were floating the idea of allowing people to nominate their own bets next year (i.e. exotics) which could be cool. That and markets on all ISG matches, not just OOMs.

Either way, let me know your feedback on OOMBET and whether or not it is a “win or bin”

OK… OOMBET has been run and won…

A good day for OOMBET, with not many collecting at all… so much so that I can easily detail all winning bets…

1) The big winner would you believe is me… I put $300 on Shrek to win A grade rolled into a top 3 finish. That netted me a very handy $5,502….
2) Francie followed me as well backing his fellow plod but put $200 on an A grade win only.
3) Oldbogey, Francie and DJCraig himself backed DJCraig for Overall LD for marginal returns.
4) Iron Mick backed Ari for an Overall Top 3
5) Acca and Pozza picked Lefty for B Grade LD

Seriously …........ I’m calling the OPI on your blokes … it’s just not on.

Then add in Hot Fuzz, kicking his ball all the way down the fairway and onto the green while no-one is looking …..... we need a Royal Commission into you lot

Unbelievably that’d be me Sparto… my outside punt on the big Rozzer meant that I cleaned up nicely.

So not only did my shares in OOMBET pay off nicely, my own personal account also topped up the hypothetical bank balance nicely.

Great effort Smergs, hopefully my winnings will roll over into next year? I reckon its great that you run a book, and I am hoping next year it continues.

Probably get more punters if you just keep it simple and have odds for LD, top 3 and overall.

Don’t know how BMan feels about you taking 5.5K out of the bag though for a side bet on shrekky.

I hear ya Mick… NTP’s will definitely be dropped from OOMBET2013 at this stage. No one really took a punt and it just clogs it up.

I think the other markets are reasonable though.

We were thinking of allowing people to nominate a bet and we’d offer odds on it, for example:

Iron Mick: “I want to bet that I’ll score more than Kiwi”
OOMBET: “We’ll offer you $7:1 for that”
Iron Mick: “Cool, I’ll put $100 OOM dollars on it”.

or

Smergen: “I think all of the coppers will score above 30pts”
OOMBET: “We’ll offer you $2.50 for that”
Smergen: “Cool, I’ll put $1000 OOM dollars on that”

for example.

i like that idea mate, nominate your own quirky bets and oombet give you the odds.

I would like to see OOMbet continue, its fun and gives a bit of banter in same way that Formguide gives some fun as well.

maybe winner of most money on an OOM event wins a bottle of wine.

would like to see NTP’s not in as its a one off shot who could pick this.

maybe introduce betting like

beat field average in grade

Beat pro or sponsor (wager your score against Garth assuming he plays)

bet against another player ie I might place a bet that I will do better than GPJ and Francie.

pick winning score of OOM before game (like select margin for Footy). or select grade winners scores.

or alternatively keep it really simple to make it easier for players to put a wager on.
ie

I knew my not well known skills in sewing would come in handy in being able to sew that extra ball into the pants leg and drop it out when needed a la great escape spreading the excavated dirt from their pockets!!

BTW I’ve heard that most of the people that call the OPI are jsut disgruntled left hand golfers that try to distract fellow competitors that may not be wearing sunnies with pants that reflect insane amounts of flourecent light into thier eyes…......just saying…

Oombet is a winner smergs. Player vs player bets for pride is also a great idea. People could get on and back their players.
