LOL Long Island isn’t far from penisula. LI have the best greens in Vic and the fastest on average. Kingston heath and other courses have been trying to poch our green keeper for years.
If we are going to put on a show personally I would be embarrassed if it was hosted at Cape Shank or Eagle Ridge, when there is St Andrews and other great courses down there to play. If I was travelling from QLD to play CS or ER I’d be pretty disapointed to be honest, only due being better courses in the area.

thanks for suggestion all welcome as add to the discussion of what people want. keep in mind that these things have to be looked at from a big picture perspective and think with heads and not our hearts.

St Andrews beach is a great course no question BUT we also have to understand logistics of playing courses.
fine if just 4 or 20 of us but we could have over 80 players at this event, that is 20 groups .

StA beach have indicated they will only do one tee starts,(didnt seem too keen to do a shot gun) as unlike other traditional course layouts the 10th tee is a long way from club house.(just like old standrews)

Zen imagine putting 80 players around there. if teed off at 8.00am last group would be off around 10.30 am 4.5 hour rounds first group in at 12.30 last group in at 3.00pm

StA has a small cabin as pro shop so when finish game, there is barely enough room in pro shop to hold 6 people for a drink and certainly no where to hold a post game presentation.

StA is usually booked out on most Sundays (unless we do a shot gun start) on dates proposed and so only leaves the Monday to play there..
Madam has indicated one of criteria for course selection to do prize presentations together and have a few drinks before we all went home or back to hotels

so at StA where would we do that. and when (car park at 4.00pm)(the first group would be on plane at tullarmaine before last group finished)

The organizing committee would not be doing its job if StA wasn’t on the list for great courses to play.

Whether we can is another matter.

So lots of excellent courses to choose from down there on Peninsula no question, but reality is same as we have found for our OOM days, not all courses are set up to handle big social groups.

Aahhh, the voice of reason. Keep at it CB, unlike the rest of us, yourself and the committee do know and understand ALL the requirements.

lets compare my quote for Moonah with what you can do.

For accommodation, when we know what weekend, I could get a good rate quote for a package for ISGers at the motel at my club (Rosebud CC). It is not an overly flash resort but the word is they look after golfers well and it is certainly well within reach of any of the courses under consideration. I don’t know that I could get any better rate than the committee could, but they would likely put a good package together for a large group of golfers.

The committee will select the venues for Sunday /Monday games and golfer are free to select own accomidation around there as committee will not be bargaining on this unless its part of a package offer..
so this type of deal could be of interest once we get closer to time.

If we go with courses in that area then yes staying at Rosebud course would be a very good option ,as its literally just down road from the courses and as some of Qlders and NSW isgers might want to stay on and play other courses in the area and use somewhere like Rosebud as a home base.

You could walk. Not recommended, at all. Don’t even consider it.

That would also apply to most of the peninsula courses. The closer to the water they are the worse it gets.
