I have a wing prepared for the wallet…poor Francie and Dr Sues will be under a black plastic garbage bag on the pool deck this weekend.

Francie doesn’t have a house so to speak.
It’s a big block of land. A bungalow, and one massive safe.

Here it is being delivered.

…..

Would I pay $300 to play KH & LI. Bloody Oath. I am not spending all this money to go to Vic to play second rate courses…:
The wife & I reckon we have the accomodation sorted. We are looking at hiring a campervan & taking a couple of weeks to drive back up to Brissie after the Event..:-)

I think us southern folk are a little misunderstood here, over the last 18 months, through the hard work of a loyal band of organisers and growing support of the ISG community down south, we have made a real success of a calendar of events aka as the OOM. If I know my comrades well, I am damned certain that if all the planets aligned a national event would be supported in earnest and really do it justice.

I hope the feedback in here helps mould one heck of a 2013 event

anyway, where’s smergs when you need him, he’s the voice of reason down here

Late October on the way home?

Everyone has some very valid points and if it all comes together quick enough then plenty of time left for making accom reso’s and saving for the cost of rounds, making flight bookings or organising a road trip etc. But how about we let the chosen committee do what they are their for first. Who knows, they may just come up with the optimum solution. No matter what is decided, it is not going to suit all. But nothing ever does.

The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish…..

Now a two time winner of the treasured WBT.

Mate, I’m not really fussed about playing.
But with that line up I’d book the family in over on the beach and enjoy the trip ‘home’ each night.

To me, those 3 days, that’s a true test of golf.

Just been reading Golf Australia mag, Dec and it has a review of Mornington Peninsula courses.
Why would we have a national event anywhere else?
Some might like to stay on for the week and experience more courses.
Lots of tourist things for wags to do.

Totally agree OB

Looking at Venues now

The committee would like all ISG Vic OOM players to get right behind this National day and fully support it.

Lets put on a good show for the interstate visitors.

If we get good numbers of 70 -80 plus to the national game it opens up all sorts of bargaining options in terms of accommodation / courses/ shot gun starts /catering etc.

90 -100 players for this long weekend is not out of question if we get right courses and put together the right package.

Many of interstate visitors might not want to go home at all, as so many courses to play in that area alone

So “looking at venues” is what’s happening at the moment.

To Madam or the committee members …......

Have enough people “expressed interest” to be able to go ahead with it, or are more expressions of interest still being sought?

Has one golfing locale or area been decided upon, or is it still a state-wide proposition?

Eg, has it been narrowed down to one or two different areas etc, eg Bellarine, Murray, Melbourne Central, Mornington Peninsula etc?

Are you going to quantify those existing “expressions of interest” again ….... once the locale or area has been chosen?

Do we have the preferred days yet, eg Saturday / Sunday event …......., Sat / Sun / Mon, ........ or a Sun / Mon combo, etc.

Do we have a rough timing for the event yet?

RACV Cape Schank Resort would be a good option. There is ample on-site accommodation, function rooms, etc and is close to the other courses. Melburnians can travel down for the day, although some would want to stay on the night of the dinner.

When looking at their rates chart, there is a two-night minimum for Sat nights, but they allow additional guests ($27 bed only, $49 with breaky) so those only wanting the one night could be distributed among the others. I’m sure a deal could be struck.

Also, their room rates are not per head, but they are per night. The end result is something in the order of $100 – 150 pp per night.
