Thanks Commish! It was confusing me this morning as well!! NOTE: The National 2day event is being targeted for early October in Vic. venue TBD (First /second weekend ) And yes the National ‘post” National event is not confirmed there as we dont have a date to confirm. Well do a sandbelt course somewhere eitherway.

the first weekend is still school holidays Madam, so I imagine it will be a no go zone for a lot of people and tricky with flights. 12/13/14 Oct will be better. I cant do 18/19/20 oct
Golf forever, work never! |

Thanks luci we’ve got coring happening for many clubs and tryin To stay away from school holidays major sport events etc. That is why this is a bit tricky at times to book. I hope we can get the right time so as many people can make it as possible

NOTE:Not to be confused with the above, this is the list of people desirous of a round at ‘The National’ post ISG National Champs event. It will be the Monday or Tuesday after. Limited number apparently which is not known yet so there will/may be disappointment. Im also not able to confirm the venue until we confirm the main National event. Well book a sandbelt course either-way. 1. Stinkler

If I couyld offer my two bobs worth, if its intended that this event pull a crowd like a Vic ISG, I would be suggesting a venue in Melbourne somewhere. If the agenda is for a select few then by all means zero in on somewhere 4 hours or so from Melb. Maybe Im completely wrong, perhaps a straw poll would be a better guage of popular opinion…has the potential to be a beauty, get the foundations right folks

Wasa…...the list above is for people who may want a game at the National Golf Course, the day after the National event. The game at the National GC is for a limited number BUT numbers for the “national event” are unlimited I would suspect. Obviously Madam is looking far and wide for an appropriate venue for the national event.

The state reps have been consulting with their players and getting heaps of feedback. Did you play at Curlewis? We are pulling for players all around Oz not just the Vic players- so many things to consider. Yes Francie that is correct its a side event that looks to be getting out of control!! lol

It was suggested at Culrewis that we look at Murray River Venues, as an alternative. While this has merit, it would need to be booked now for next year, as most of the better venues can book out 12 months in advance. Codboy can give us a run down on the better up there for sure….

A point to remember. Cheap flights are available to the interstate travellers between major centres. But if this event is scheduled for somewhere like the Murray River courses. This then becomes a more time consuming & expensive exercise.

|
Totally agree Pom. I know that it will become a little more difficult for the ‘interstaters’ if they have to get to the Murray course after flying into Melbourne.

Yes I was there and i got the distinct impression that the riverina was top of the pops. Whilst an excellent venue, in my opinion, being so far from Melbourne will detract from the numbers. I cant believe for the life of me that there wouldn’t be a course in melb or on the periphery that wouldn’t accommodate a large group for sun/mon.

Yes seems crazy to have a vic day so far from most of the vic posters. May as well go to Tasmania…

Yes Guys lets think practical here. Some of venues which have accommodation on course like Sanctuary lakes or Heritage or Forest resort charge over $200 -250 per night for accommodation.(how many are going to do this) If have close to Melbourne example Sanctuary lakes most of Melbourne guys wont stay overnight which destroys the social aspect which Madam is looking for. As for travel even guys flying in from Interstate are still going to have to travel for 1.5 to 2 hours to get to Bellarine peninsula (past Curlewis) or 1.5 hours – 2 hours to Morning ton Peninsula. Rosebud or 2.5 -3 to Murray at Rich River. If want to have Sunday Monday games that’s a different matter in terms of access, but this option might drop the numbers off because people will have to take annual leave. Not easy to please all players it seems.

Cb i reckon sun mon would cause less discord than a remote venue. Not only would this create awkward and time consuming transit for the interstaters, locals will now need to view this as a golf trip so to speak. A quick review would reveal that the suggestion of a trip for the local isg brethren never garnered much support.

For my 2 cents worth …..... There seems to be two issues at play here. One is the desire by the organisers to have a Saturday game for some reason …..... which appears to have them now casting far and wide for a course willing to accept a large group. I’d suggest that courses on the Murray might well be available for the Saturday for such a large group …... but shifting the games from Melbourne and thereby ensuring for example, the 50 players who played at Curlewis a four hour drive …......... would surely see numbers plummet I believe (including me). Then as Pom has already pointed out, it just adds extra difficulty to those travelling from interstate in trying to fly into some cow paddock of an aerodrome, and then trying to catch a lift in the back of some farmer’s ute to the local hotel. As a Melbourneite, and with the best courses in the state all located within easy driving distances ..... I’d like to see the Victorian event played in Victoria …....... and not up in NSW preferably. That being the case ….. the other possible scenario … is of course a Sunday / Monday event in Melbourne. Courses would suddenly be available for the Monday, which then just leaves Sunday to try and organise …. something that our Vic ISG Committee do very well I believe That option would be the surest one to sort out in terms of getting bums on seats. I realise the implications of a day or two’s loss of income for some…........ but I’d happily take a Monday off work, and do it much sooner than I would go for a four hour drive up to the outback. Another point to consider . hold a small game on the Saturday . the main event on the Sunday .. and then another smaller event on the Monday. People can then choose to play Sat / Sun and then fly home, or go to work on the Monday …. others could to Sun / Monday double if they wished. Anyway …...... I think the organisers need to consider the issue purely from a “bums on seats” basis. The whole point of this National Event is to get as many people invloved as possible isn’t it ...... so whichever scenario the organisers think will realistically get say 60 to 70 people to participate in … go with that one. Just my 2 cents worth ….......

Pretty much on the money and hence why we did the National event here on Goldy and on a Sun/Monday. Its a National event being held in Victoria, not a Vic event inviting everyone else on ISG. Several factors to contend with time of year, coring, days of week, decent courses, accommodation, and keep all under a certain amount of money, plus include prizes. If you thought planning one day was tough try this! With such a long lead time you would think getting one day off would not be an issue. The night between rounds is where all the real shenanigans happen you dont want to miss that. The golf is secondary in my mind- its about the social. We will not be able to appease everyone- well get as best options as possible and feedback from all of you which is what is happening now. In the end I don’t think it will be a flop regardless of player numbers. The ones that show up will love it either way, ask the ones that went to Qld this year.
