Ok guys….......before I post pictures and results…....Dr Sue’s taken a little time to put pen to paper and furnish us with a poem for the day. Sit back, sip the coffee and enjoy a Cadbury Favorite while she puts her spin on the day…........

They came to play at Beaconhills
For a charity day for cancer
And though it’s close to Christmas
It wasn’t Comet, Blitzen or Dancer.

It was GPJ, CB 80
Kiwi and the man they call Francie
They called themselves the “Gay Faders”
Just that; nothing fancy

It was to be a four-ball-ambrose
All the boys had to be at their best
They had to bring their “A” game
If they were to beat all the rest

And beat them….they did quite soundly
Posting birdies like it was easy
Their score was 60, off the stick
For them, it was easy peasy

So back into the cheery clubhouse
For presentations and a beer
“Nearest the Pin” to GPJ
He was grinning from ear to ear

He won a bloody television
He’ll add it to his stash
He had a winners twinkle in his eyes
And a twitch in his moustache

And then they announced the winners
Of the competition, with a pause
It was “GAY FADERS” by a whisker
They were greeted by much applause

They were presented the perpetual trophy
The first ever winners of this prize
Rotary Casey Golf Day Champions
We’re proud of these four guys

So the challenge is on for next year
For ISG to field more teams
Once again I am “First lady”
And yes…....it’s as good as it seems.

guys well done would have been a terrific day for a game of golf…

looks as if there is some good form going into the final oom of 2012

Too right Oz. We had 11 birdies and finished on 60 (with 5 handicap) nett 55.

There were a couple of good “saves” for par but we played GREAT together and are a great combination…......if I do say so myself.

Thanks Kiwi GPJ and Francie for a wonderful day at Beaconhills.

I am really starting to enjoy this course, Won Beaconhills classic here with OZ a few weeks ago and a win again today.

The course was as good as I have seen it and the greens were super to putt on.

It was a pleasure being in the ISG dream team. And what a team.

As good a golfer as Francie is he was the high handicapper(but not the weak link) in our group.off 12. dream team combined handicaps were (8+10+10+12) =40 so team of 5.
We made Francie captain for day.
of this handicap have to play extremely well to get close in these type of events.

We had a nice walk to play 12th hole a long par 4 up hill to start with, and the talk while going to tee was how we had drawn a difficult hole to start on.
We all hit good drives down and we decided to take GPJ’s shot here, he hit his approach shot to 3m under hole, and putted first for an own birdie.
Off to a flying start.
We had 6 birdies in holes 1-9 and 5 on holes 10 -18.
30 each 9

The pleasure of being in this team was we combined so well together ,Kiwi and I hit it about same length so we clubbed each other and Francie and GPJ clubbed each other.

We all had that confidence in each others game to know that one of us would hit a good shot.
Yet surprisingly we each also hit a few bad ones as well.

We all often hit a lot of really good shots , drives and approach shots that each of us would have been happy with any other game but didn’t get used by team cause there was one better to choose from.

We hit 15 greens in reg and only missed hitting par 3’s 2nd, 11th and 13th (we saved pars on these however).

Guys this is my best effort ever in an Ambrose, so thank you very much

guys

I personelly think when we have days like you guys had and a 4 comes along we all lift our games somewhat

as i think we all have that determination we dont want to let our playing partners down

even when we all get together wether it be ooms or outer rim types days etc when playing individually we all like to lift our game

so really the win between this great four doesnt really surprise me at all 4 excellent players with a great passion to golf. all would have lifted each others spirits and confidence through the day

i hope to see or read many more great days when isg guys get together for a game of golf cos nothing more better other then playing yaself is to read about the triumphants that golf brings around

once again well done

Gents, Dr Sue’s, and Maggie,

Thanks for a relaxed fun day out on my home course, it was a great day to be out golfing …..... and I couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable day with you all.

It started off with plenty of time on the practice green which I figured would come in handy …..... and it did. We all got the putters nicely warmed up …....... and then were off.

With the all star team ably led by Frank, with the human metronome in CB80, and Muzz the Magnificent, I had little doubt that we would in fact, “tear Beacy a new one”.

It was always going to be the case I figured for two reasons …......... we would have lots off tee shots to choose from that would be in good position …........ and three very good putters, once we got to Beacy’s small testing greens.

When the guys missed their putts, they did so by burning the edges, and not missing by a foot ….... so one out of four was always bound to drop …........ and drop they duly did.

With plenty of shots in play on every hole, it was “no pressure golf” the kind where you can just relax and have a go. Frank by the way came up with a tactical masterstroke in order to keep us focussed, in that the side bet we had on who could get their approach shot the closest, kept us all trying to outdo each other, in order to pick up some coinage.

In fact, after Muzz put his tee shot on the par 3 6th close …..... it was only thru trying to outdo him, to win a dollar …....... that I managed to pick up a TV on the day …. when I managed to hit my 9 iron inside Muzz’s by the merest poofteenth. (I then missed the putt, but Muzz as usual, tidied up nicely and drained our second attempt for birdie).

Frank by the way, came close to picking up a grand, and another hole in one, when his tee shot on the Par 3 15th, looked “in” for all of its flight, only to finish up some 8 feet directly behind the hole.

Meanwhile Maggie was busy crunching gears in the golf cart and downing Gatorades like they were going out of style, as she chauffeured Muzz around like he was “Lord of all he Surveyed”.

There were some exceptional shots hit by all the guys, and it was great to sit back, and watch 3 of the finest ISG golfers I know, in action.

Post round and it was off to the bar and the presentations, and Dr Sue’s made sure we got out share of the fingerfood by cornering a couple of the “wait staff” and directing their attention our way. Not one to be messed with Dr Sue’s thats for sure, so we had em pretty much lining up to offer us stuff after that.

Frank also nearly became a member of Beacy, (which would have been fun) as they were auctioning off a membership. Frank waited til the bidding quietened down at about $550, before launching a bid of $600 (geez those rozzers must be paid well). Meanwhile, I was wondering just how many memberships Frank can hold at once.

From memory Frank’s last bid came at the $700 mark when he increased the bid by a huge $10 …...... as he figured the other guy bidding had more money in his wallet, ........... unlike Frank, who only has cards …. allegedly.

Anyway Frank decided that enough had been raised for charity, and the winning bid was taken a few seconds later …. at $800 …..... so a two hunge or so saving for the guy who won the auction …. nice one, whoever you are.

So, our first time as a team, and we fulfilled Frank’s desire and prophecy, to have our names firmly ensconsed as the inaugural winners at the top of the perpetual trophy …... a great day was had by all, and we raised some money for a worthwhile charity in the process.

As I said a great day out …....... and one that I look forward to repeating with my all star team …... whenever they’ll have me.

some blokes will do anything for a $

was good to have Frank take charge,
carbs intake must be a pre requisite in future
Bloody gaz makes it hard to get a drive on the card i must say.

my best shot was on the 6th
off a draw lie hitting uphill 145m so a 150m shot 5i
hit it up the tree line hoping it would come round to the left
clipped some light branches and bounced out on to the green

my fellow dream team players all missed the green
so we had about a 5m up hill fast breaking right to left putt
treacherous stuff

me = lipped out stopped 8 inches away
CB80 = lipped out stopped behind the hole, was doing the IN dance
Frank = longest lip out (longer lips) stopped below the hole
Flag trousers (GPJ) = bang!! Birdy in the middle
now my putt looked the closest but ended up being furtherest from the hole.
a special day

any one else heading home to get married??

Guys
just doing a bit of refecting as one does over a nice glass of red last night

To give everone an idea of how this team performed on the day

WE DIDNT HAVE A 5 ON OUR SCORE CARD..

we had

1 (2) at 6th
10 (3)
7 (4)

OUT IN 30
BACK IN 30

we hit 15 GIR. (thanks to Francie greens policy)

missed 3 par 3’s

13th (our second hole)(chip on)
2nd down hill we all missed right drained putt for par
11th our last hole all short RHS chipped on putt in.

No 5’s on our card which means we birdied all par 5’s

we birdied 14th (Mr goose hole)

3rd (CB80 and Francie both through back for two and francies chip close and putt in)

4th (CB80 drained the curling putt down hill)

10th close for two chipped on putt in

WOW what a team
