Looks like ISG are sponsoring a golf day. Might be a good opportunity for a few of you boys to settle a few scores (officially)

If they put up some good prizes they can count me in…

Has this been mentioned anywhere on this site…?

Hi muntz – not yet as we are still sorting out a few details. We’ll make very sure everyone knows when the time comes :)

would be good if we could have a state based comp and the winners from each, meet in a grand final match play.

Now that’s a good idea.

Now that’s a good idea.

Here’s the rough idea.

Lets say Vic, NSW and QLD each had it’s own comp. 12 players each as a limit (3 groups of 4). Each player kicks in a $100 to enter. $50 for green fee and $50 for the pool.

12 x $50 = $600
x 3 states = $1800.

Have the final in Sydney. The winners of Vic and Qld get their travel expenses paid (airfares and taxi to and from course), say $1,000 approx. Fly in the morning, fly out the evening. Remaining prize pool (minus green fees for GF) gets divided up in a 3, 2, 1 finish of the grand final.

People would just need to commit to two sundays on the calendar. If for some reason the winner of Vic or QLd pulled out and couldn’t do the final, then the runner up takes their place.

I assume this would be a comp off the stick?

Counts a lot of people out – but running a handicap event would just be a glorified lottery, not sure the ISG community would enjoy seeing a 32 hcp double-bogeying his / her way to the title.

I’d rather see the self-proclaimed low markers put their reps on the line.

Well, there was mention of a possible state competition with national final?

Umm one person mentioned that as a suggestion – we’re busy promoting the ISG Golf Classic in April on the Gold Coast atm

Are you hoping for this to be an annual event?

It is an annual event – been going for 8 years now. We just stepped in this year.
