This weekend is great because this year's second most exciting and important teams match is being played in Ireland between the US and Europe.

Next month, the big one takes place. ISG City v Country, in a 27 hole Ryder Cup style format.

Sunday October 15th. Gisborne Golf Club.

Details later tonight.

#16 at Gisborne, a likely pivotal hole during the BRICKS v STICKS matches

So tell me TT - Is this also a "state of origin" basis of competition?

In which team would you put an innocent country lad that spent his first 23 years in the bush and then the past 16 in the big smoke?

huh.gif

You've seen me play - It's hardly fair on either team.

Beware of cheap imitations - Especially from the US

Thought this thread had something to do with me for a second...

What would classify 'sticks'? Somewhere where your telephone number doesn't start with a 9?

I would have put my name down regardless, but having seen the picture of Gisborne I am definately in. I think whichever way you cut it I am Bricks (born in London, living in Melbourne metro). Looking forward to it.

You city blokes don't stand a chance. tongue.gif

BRICKS v STICKS

Sunday October 15th
Gisborne Golf Club

Assemble by 7.15am (for 7.37am hitoff) for 27 holes (18, then 9 after lunch)
$25 (club only charging 18 hole green fees). Lunch & snacks available at the club.
Two teams of 6 (or 4 if insufficient players)
9 hole pairs ambrose, 9 hole fourball, 9 hole foursomes

I am taking entries now via PM.

First in best dressed, genuine ISG posters only, with past Vase participants given preference in the event of there being too many players.
A player's team to be determined by where they live, with any imbalance due to too many on one team fixed by having one or more city dwelling country raised boys play for the bush or vice versa.

Handicaps will be used as the guide to rank each team's lineup into players numbered 1-6. Once the rankings are done, all matches will be played off the stick. The ambrose and 4BBB matches will be played by 1&2 v 1&2, 3&4 v 3&4 and 5&6 v 5&6. Then for the afternoon foursomes, 1&4 v 1&4, 2&5 v 2&5 and 3&6 v 3&6.

PM sent.

Should also have mentioned:

we'll get one side to wear all white tops and the other all black. So polos, any jumper or top should be predominantly in your teams' colour. Everybody has black and white at home, and I can get $8 polos for anyone who hasn't.

Should be fun

Sounds like fun .

Plus one boy i think will come for the walk.

If someone tells you you are a swinger and then proceeds to try and make you a hitter ... run Quickly...

Sounds like fun.

Really? You think its a good idea? tongue.gif

I may have come up with the format which I use elsewhere for another mob, but chestnuts is the one who has spent a couple of months driving the idea behind having the match in the first place. The poor bastard deserves extra credit for putting up with my phone call when I gave him the full rundown of the proposed format. He classically replied with a "I think you've put more thought into this than I have", revealing my nerddom.

I'm supposed to be going elsewhere on that day but I'll be able to change plans I think.

Am I city or Country? I have cows living opposite my house and a provincial race track 5 minutes from my house so I'm guessing borderline Country...

Judge,

As much, as I'd like you on my team, I don't think you count as country until you dodge roos on the road on a regular basis.

Think hard man smile.gif

Ok, I'm all good for the day.

If BigAl is City, I'm country and visa versa

Lets get ready to rumble!

Not happy, Jan.
I have my nieces christening on.
I am desperate to make one of these ISG days, but dates keep clashing.

Sounds like great fun.

And Gisborne, being only 25 minutes from south east suburbs would have been handy biggrin.gif

Maybe one day, an interstate series against the NSW & Qld boys, with perhaps a team from WA. Now that would be HUGE!

I really REALLY want to be there but it looks like october is out for me sad.gif

I'm trying to get an answer out of Jack. The STICKS need a combatant for Willow of his calibre!

Total yokel now but city-born. If you need to even the numbers I can fit in either camp. smile.gif

What's that grey stuff in the photo of the 16th?

Do you mean the embankment at the edge of the pond? Thankfully, I've never been close to it to have a look at what it is formed out of, 'nor had to look around whilst walking to the green. 3 for 3 hitting this sucker smile.gif

Must be the pond. Vaguely recall those but haven't seen one for many years. tongue.gif

Tony you're killing me. I would love to come down for the big match but the day before is the first round of our club champs. Anyway good luck to the city boys.

daacha

Daacha, maybe if we have a Bricks/Sticks/boys that like Dicks match you can come down from Sydney with a bunch of fellas from Kings Cross and take us on!
