Mobile phone

Just a simple question for the tech heads here.
Can someone tell me if our mobile phones work in the USA. I have been told it is a different network.

Supeman,

You need a tri-band phone for it to work in the US. I have a Nokia 6100 which works like a charm over there (and most places in Europe for that matter). You need to ask your local telco to turn on international roaming before you leave.

And you must remeber that it cost s a fortune to make AND RECIEVE calls. About $4 a minute I think.

that sounds right...
roaming in KL with Voda cost that per minute...
I think receiving SMS also get's you slugged...

I think recieving messages is OK but sending them was about 40-60 cents per message, depending on which network you had logged on to, last time I was in England.

Make sure you've also configured your phone to pick up voicemail overseas before you get there. You can't just ring the 121 number (or whatever it is) when you're in a different country. As you need to make a long call to configure the phone, do it before you leave or it will cost you a bomb.
