Who will be the next most powerful leader on earth ? I think Obama’s team will be Palin not convincing sounded like a school teacher
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |
|
Kyc, the next most powerful leader? America is wobbling, whoever owns capital owns the world, they have none. Almost every major business is for sale at a massive discount.

The “most” powerful country in the world is China (at present)! With all countries in or heading into recession, China is thriving! Our economy is safest because we sell so much to China – if China goes under the world will crash and burn!

granted China is the economic Big man …at present

Geez, if China goes under, the Solar System better watch out…. Instead of giving billions of dollars to morons that can’t hold on to what they have, give it to the poor bastards that are suffering because of those morons…. I bet they’ve still got their mansions, million dollar boats, collections of cars etc…. dickheads… Mustang Boats just up the road from my place sacked 100 staff the other day because all those “poor” pricks can’t spend all those millions of dollars on holes in the water, big white expensive toys, and the US wants to save businesses like that? Well F them, it’s about time Mustang Boats was given the ahole…. along with half a thousand other luxury crap businesses that should go the same way….

Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the run on Northern Rock in the UK, In the last 7 days Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up and Bonsai Bank announced Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, While Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks, Ninja Bank is reported to have taken Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy

Racin...I understand you could wish that but face reality….we are Australians….Americans could never be that close to perfection. In fact the only thing closer to perfection that Australians are Queenslanders. Ditty.....That is so sad. Cliff...The sad thing is if more of those manufacturers go arse up then that means more little blokes have a shyte christmas.

Have to agree with that statement – never mind Racin, you come up with more smart arse remarks than anyone else here – keep battling mate and you’ll hit the jackpot (or is that rabbit) eventually :-)

Right Kyc, they are and China is what is keeping Australia afloat because they buy more of us than any other country – sure we buy it back but the wheel keeps turning and the economy is sound – to a point!

Our economy has been based on debt and asset fuelled consumption as well… what goes around comes around. We’ve been running current account (cash) deficits for ages. Normally run a big trade deficit too. When cheap credit dries up a lot of “consumption” businesses will hit the wall, and that has a knock on effect on the whole economy. Hope we have a soft landing, but we are no way immune to the global credit market seizing up. Our property prices are artificially inflated by cheap credit and tax distortions as well.

yes, no doubt toyshops going bad like Mustang is not good for some workers like us. But getting rid of these toy shops would not be a bad thing in the long run. The real workers will get jobs or start up little businesses for themselves, the rich bastards we can all hope will learn, and become workers again….

So what about the people who have worked to become rich?

yeah well life’s a circle… swings and roundabouts, no one helped me out when my job disappeared and I lost my house…. life goes on, I am not bitter, I am not complaining, I have moved on and am starting a new life for me and my kids, all I am saying is don’t expect me to pay for the problems of the rich…. that isn’t right, in no shape or form…. it seems to me that the US gov’t should leave well enough alone, throwing good money after bad is stupid, the circle should be allowed to take it’s course, who knows? We may all be better off in the long term, the sick process that is called the Stock Market is just that, sick…. it should be allowed to die….

I can sympathise with your thinking Cliff but unfurtunately it is not that simple Sure the big boys have been greedy & deserve whatever they get but remember this. If these large institutions go belly up Who do you think will get hurt the most. The small investors , retirees & pensioners . Basically those that can least afford it. Look at superannuation funds. they have already lost Billions of $ But if these big finance conglomerates go. we stand tolose the lot. Lets be honest the big baddy in all of this is credit. So many families in the developed world these days are up to thier eyeballs in debt. & many cannot afford to pay it back. Especially in the good old U S of A.I hate to appear as if I agree with Kevin Rudd but he is correct when he states that our banking system is much tighter regulated than many in the world. We should be thankful for that at least
A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all.

Yes, I realise it isn’t that simple, but you see from where I sit, it’s me, and my two kids. That is simple, as long as we have a fairly good life, we are reasonably happy, we eat, I get to hit golf balls every now and then, my kids get to play cricket or girl guides or whatever else we can afford at the time… things go on…. and who knows what it will be tomorrow… life is good, I CERTAINLY don’t need a Mustang boat and I never will no matter how much money I have in the bank…

Cliff, what if there is no Bank? The exercise at the moment is not to prop up bloated executive salaries, its to ensure the continuation of the banking system. It may not be the best system however its all we have at present. Going for the scorched earth approach and letting everything fail is possible (I think from previous posts, that is your thought??) however is the cure worse than the disease. What we get post this debacle is nationalised banks, massive regulation and higher borrowing costs for all. My tip : Bill Gates and a couple of his mates buy a global bank, probably one of Racinfarmers and turn it into a non profit organisation with a charter to lend to the third world. That will be his legacy to the world. If I have to pay bank fees, I’ll do business with him knowing there is some good accruing at the end of the year.

Now that’s the only thing I have heard about fixing this problem that actually makes sense, someone with some brains taking control of the morons without asking their permission…. fingers crossed he may just do it… As for the nationalised banks, I can remember a time when there wasn’t much else in Australia and banking was very cheap, and it worked… I don’t borrow money, so I don’t give a rats…. Is the banking system we currently have the only option? I very much doubt it, so what if they die, like I said, the bottom line is every one learns to live in a different way, we still eat, we might pay for it in a different way, use some imagination…. it isn’t hard to look past the current mess to something better, not the same…..
