Where do you guys spend your holidays? What is you favourite destination? For me I am off to Phucket for 10 days soon. The last few years I have spent holidays in OZZ.

Thought I’d throw in my favourite Australian destination Noosa.
|
|
Not the Noosa I used to know. Used to spend lots of time there but that was when Hastings srteet was filled with swimsuit shops hamburger bars & a couple of caravan parks. And everything was reasonably priced. Too much development there now for my taste.I prefer places like Magnetic Island or Mission Beach.

Your not getting confused with Mooloolaba are you :-) Iast time we stayed up there, noosa area, we stayed a Boreen Point about half an hour inland very quite and relaxing. It was 3 years ago now pity I didn’t play golf as there’s a good course there. Whilst on the subject of “pity I didn’t play golf then” my wife and her sister in law went on a working holiday to Canada for nine months and I ended up going over for a month in the middle and the lady they lived with played golf 2-3 times a week and we stayed in Banff for a few days and there was a course just down the road and there was barely anyone on it as we went down there a few times to spot wildlife.

I played at the course at Boreen point. It’s a 27 hole course on an organic orchard. You have the choice of any combo of the 27 holes. great fun i played a 9 hole all par 3s. Played with Mrs ManU and little princess ManU

Pom I am a couple of years older than you. I have lived here since “76 I am an OZZIE, . I also have the papers and scars to prove, don’t need them.I live in a very British area, must admit most my mates feel Pommie, even after 20-30 years here.

Most of the guys I play golf with are Vietnam vets. I tend to hear plenty of stories about life in the oz army. Only one of them is a pommie. Spent 13 years living in the Brisbane area & then moved north into the tropics. Not bad for a Bradford boy. Prefer the tropical heat to the freezing cold.

Sarg. Mooloolaba& maroochydore are development gone mad. You buy a 10th floor unit with oceon veiws & 12 months time your veiw is blocked by another highrise.

What can I say other then it is “my peacefully little corner of the world.” I wanted a place like my grandpa had, and I found it there.

TYhat,s a long way to go for a little peace & quiet. Must be really something special. You will have seen a thread on here about a place called Port Fairy. Beautiful quiet little town with a terrific golf course. I have promised myself that on my next holiday I am going to spend a few days there.

Pom – I haven’t been to Noosa for years. We had a uint in Sunshine Beach in the mid to late eighties so we used to go up quite often. I guess it’s a very different place these days. Used to have the odd game of golf at Noosa Tweantin, Nambour and a few other tracks around the area. Oh the memories:)
|
|
I know there,s a lot more golf courses around there now . I left the brisbane area 30 years ago but have been back to visit plenty of times. Even did a little work in Maroochydore a couple of years ago. The place I live now is like a big country town with the services of a small city. Very laid back lifestyle. Brisbane & adjacent coastal communities are too much of a ratrace for me now. I.m looking for more peace & quiet.

I’m the same, I live on the Mornington Peninsula with more golf courses than people in winter time:) When I was younger I always intended to live in Queensland or at least spend winter in Noosa, that’s why we had the unit. As I’ve got older the hot weather bothers me more than the cold…that may all change next winter:)
|
|
I am exactly the opposite . A pom that hates the cold weather. Funnily enough the manager down the club also comes from the north of england. When the weather starts to cool down she & I are the first to rug up. No pun intended.

Lol….I hope the missus dosen’t read your posts:) The problem with me is I perspire so freely in hot weather, it’s bloody annoying:) When it’s cold all I have to do is go for a brisk walk and I’m warm. Having said that, if arthritis set in or I lost my mobility I may change my mind about living in a hot weather climate;-)

Yeah! that definately makes a difference.
