Just saw the telly ad for the new Holden ute – it looks exactly like a Falcon ! What the hell is going on, both companies are so conservative in their styling, now impossible to tell apart. Local unrefined bogan chariots – I’ll keep the Rolls.

I need a ute for work, so may as well make it one that’s a bit of fun to drive. (Ford XR8) I’m afraid the Rolls just wont do old chap, unless they start pulling out the bar and armchairs, cutting off the roof, and turning them into practical driving machines.

if i had the money i would buy the holden as i would get shot if i bought a ford , know too many people who have problems with fords

Fords seemed to go ok at Bathurst today. 1, 2, 3 finish and 7(?) of the top 10. Distinct lack of mechanical problems for Ford, while Holden have some work to do after loosing the last couple of years.

that statement would be ok if they were fords and holdens but the only thing that is original is the badge , im a beleiver in driving them straight of the showroom floor on the race track and then we will see what both cars are made of throw in some toyotas , mazdas , mitsubishi so on and watch the crowds grow its got a bit boring

They are both good as taxi’s. And that’s it.

That’s called production car racing, and generally, it struggles to draw any sort of crowd, let alone the numbers the V8s draw. I think you can catch it on a Sunday arvo on SBS.Maybe, following that logic, GP bikes and Formula 1 are also doomed.

Subaru all the way…..Gota love japenese quality. I must say i took out a XR6 Turbo at work the other day and they are a nice car. Great hit of power for a six cylinder

Unfortunately the next Falcon could look too much like a Commodore but as Donz said ‘I’m afraid the Rolls just wont do old chap,’ my XR8 is just too much fun.

I’m a Ford man through and through and from the front the new commodore is very much a copy of the falcon. I do love the new green colour though.

At work I am lucky enough to get to drive both the Commodore and the Falcon.

Overall the Holden has a much better ride quality than the falcon IMO. The falcon’s suspension tends to get very wishy washy the faster you go where as the Commodore is rock solid.

Although if you do get a chance to have a drive of a F6 Typhoon , do so.
IMO overpriced for what you get inside the vehicle (not really much different from a stock falcon), but that engine has to be driven to be believed.

There nothing like forced induction.

On a side note the new Ford XR5 turbo would have to be one of the best things developed by Ford. The thing is like driving a go cart….woohooo….

Have had holdens for over 20yrs,drove the new Commodore back in Jan this year after doing a demo in the V6 Accord,went straight back to the Honda dealer and bought my first Honda.

at least you didnt buy a ford my boss has a 06 territory engine blew 65,000 kms ford said no warranty he missed a service by 1000kms and want to charge him $3000 for pulling engine out and my mates falcon blew up tonight on way home and my cousin got a full refund on a au falcon 3 years ago was back 29 times under warranty , great cars ford , yeah right

yeah well there’s no chance of that happening,i’ve been in the motor trade for 30yrs and have never owned one.

They will be releasing them in utes as well Donz…rumoured to be around the 320kw mark.

They look quite good in yellow with a dome light on the roof.
