Great thread. Tough call, but based on my current listening: 1. Powderfinger 2. Crowded House 3. INXS 4. Silverchair 5. Eskimo Joe Always hard when the word “classic” is used, as bands like Midnight Oil and AC/DC spring to mind. But I’d rather listen to the above 5 bands, so they are my classic 5.

It's the only game in the world where you can call penalty on yourself. It's the greatest game there is. |

Crowded House only have 1 Kiwi in Neil Finn. Tim Finn is not a member, though appeared on some CDs

Fair call, still think thats close enough?

Yeh it was a bit iffy, but I think as they base themselves more as an Aussie outfit rather than a Kiwi outfit I’ll claim them as Aussie
|

I like it, still….... I feel the creative force (Fin) is the heart of the band and sound. I agree to disagree. Cheers

I can’t beleive no one has mentioned Something for Kate. Maybe more of a modern “classic” but given the powderfinger / eskimo joe / silverchair / little birdy (why?) mentions i would say SFK rate top in that lot – best live aussie act for in the past decade +, powderfinger a very close second. Another more modern one given the miss would be The Living End, personally ahead of eskimo joe / the chair and killing little birdy and katy steeles annoying voice. Couple more moden ones to look out for are The Vasco Era – put on one hell of a live show. Some serious energy coupled with some great dirty bluesy rock. The Mess Hall are also worth a look if they reappear for a second time…

Crowded House are an Aussie band. Two thirds of the band (Seymour and Hester) are Aussies, they were based in Aussie, and got their break while based in Aussie. This is coming from a Kiwi. We (Kiwi’s) are clutching at straws to claim Crowded House.

LOL…..If you guys want to give em’ away no worries, I’ll change my mind for you.
