I'm about to get PAY TV and wish to know what Fox 3 is like ? Is it worth getting ? I will be getting Fox 1/2 as per the notmal subs - are there any other channels you'd recommend ?

Fox Sports 3 is in the standard package isn't it? What do you like? I don't get the movies, but get everything else - the bride loves watching the chicks channels when I am out at golf...

Get the package one up from basic and you will have everything you need (except the movies). Its about $80 a month.

i have the premium package fox 3 is the same as 1 and 2 really. but if you get 1 and 2 you will get 3, its all part of the sports package. make sure you get espn.

I've got two options but one supplier = Austar (based on where I live)
1. via Telstra Option 1 = base Austar package / Option 2 = need to add extras hence Q's I want to see Intl. cricket and golf - which channels are they on ? Appreciate the advice...

St. A. Fox 1,2, and 3 all come as one package.
I've held firm though, because I don';t want any arguemtns when sport is on and she wants to watch some stupid entertainment crap. She gets the FTA telly in the spare room to watch all the crap she needs.

St Andrews, Pay TV is a complete waste of money and will only make you fatter, lazier and stupider. It will not help your golf game, and as Moe points out, you won't get to watch it because the missus will always be watching What Not To Wear or other dross on the Lifestyle channel. And once you have it, it is impossible to get rid of. And I'm not dangling bait.

Already have the golf membership in place and are trying to get the wife to crack down on DVD rentals - her $20+ a week justifies the PAY TV option

What does pay TV offer than FTA can't? Live sport.
US PGA Tour - including the majors Ok, there are times where there is nothing on - but when babysitting the nieces and nephews, once they have tuckered you out, slip the tv on to Nick Junior for half an hour, and have a little rest/stubbie/nap!

I like watching the Test Matches on Fox 2 between other nations. Can't do that on FTA. I also like watching the golf when I get up in the morning and feed bubs, can't do that on FTA either. I also like to watch the Heineken Cup and Super 12, again, none of that is on FTA.

To the bleeding hearts who dont like Pay TV - please dont get it and don't bitch about it to others, especially when you want to watch the PGA this year and its only on PAY.

Jack, FTA don't broadcast the PGA because it is a crap event that NO ONE watched. It is sort of sad that someone would pay to watch it rather than doing something useful.

Have you tried bigpond movies? I barely watch tv except for live sport but I do watch a lot of movies and the system is great. There is always a movie or 2 sitting on the shelf ready to put on when I'm ready. As bigpond is my ISP I get a discount so only pay $19.95 for 10 movies a month (extra movies are $2.95 each) and they send me 3 at a time. I love it.

Jack is on the money here... I have no movies but everything else for $78 or soemthing like that. Trials and Tribulations on SKY and Barrier Trials Uncut on TVN are worth the money by themselves. Not to mention the recap shows of each meeting on TVN at about 6.30. Then add the Cricket, as Moe has mentioned, and the golf and you are set... just be careful of the Lifestyle Channel, Lifestyle Food, E!, W and Hallmark when the bride gets control of the remote. Amber Lady is a dodgy former Russian country wrestling show. Make that Bikini Babes Honey Wrestling in a kiddies swimming pool extravaganza on Channel V at 10pm. its not on every night, but has been on every now and then for a year or two now... It sounds better than what it is, but its a definate laugh!

Have to disagree, Kendra is the rack queen, happy to get them out at any opportunity. The other two (esp. Holly) are slack, and too busy pleasing hef. Without Kendra (and her rack) that show would be boring.
