Two arrivals to Dan Murphy's which are something to swoop on while you can (for red drinkers) over the coming few days (won't last a lot longer than that);
And for Vic customers only, we have a $20 Hanging Rock Cab Sauv being cleared at $8.99. Won't go into our handling of business affairs, except to say that both wines were offered to us on this basis for reasons unrelated to quality. They are the real deal at their original price points.

TT - Let me know when the Hanging Rock is in store at Berwick.
Beware of cheap imitations - Especially from the US |
Tithers, It's no help for us Sydney guys.
Tithers, I was also impressed with the 12 packs of James Squire (half Golden Ale, half Amber Ale) for $20. When you consider that they are $14 a six pack and $48 a slab, $20 for 12 is outstanding value. I was just about to start a thread where people could list there bargains from everywhere, not just Dans. Do you want to rename this one instead?
Tithers Thanks for the heads up. I assume that is available here in QLD? Of the Cleanksin whites that are floating around now any recommendations amongst the Cleanskins? Sauvignon Blanc man me cheers
wonderful, shame there are only two Dan Murphy's in QLD that I know of and one is in Noosa and the other Toowoomba.
It's like being in a lollie shop.
still none in Vegas as far as I know. I don't get to the GC much, and if I do its carport to Golf Club car park and back with no stops! Hate the place
I guess we will get over that
Thanks Tithers,
Just got a couple to try first up and the Hanging Rock is
terrible. Under NO circumstances should anyone near the Chelsea
Heights store buy any.
I hear Judge may have fallen prey to this bargain... Judge? What's the verdict or are you still unconscious after drinking the 16 bottles?
Nearly gone. Probably last 'til mid next week.
The Hanging Rock is only in Vic, but the cleanskin I mentioned will be everywhere.
Might as well throw all the bargains in here. More fun than the what score did you shoot thread. With the Squire packs, some numb nuts at HQ committed to far more than we could ever hope to take. So they are staying at $19.99 for good now.
Cleanskin "Vin de Pays" Sauvignon Blanc. Also the Angoves Long Row Sauvignon Blanc.
Sure they should. You'll never get a 100% acceptance rate amongst patrons, but the 300 cases today alone out of Melbourne stores suggests that the majority love it. Most are repeat case sales from the past few days. Certainly for the average Joe, 90% of people won't find better for under $10. Either you are the exception or you got a bad bottle.
Tithers, I think you missed the point of my post completely. BTW, the clean skin is even worse AVOID IT... Please

Jerry You and I both know that you should stick to the 28, 128, 138 or 389 no matter what! there are still some 2002 138 at the Prahran store
I'm happy to double the $ as the wife doesn't drink ...
all the more for me

Of the new binnys out this week, the 128 is glorious. White
peppered honestly regional Coonawarra Shiraz. Not as much of an
attention seeker as the others, but will be the best of the bunch
with a couple more years under it, including the 389. 407 is the
runner up. It will be the best developer in the bottle (say 3-8
years) of all the 407s since the 1994. 389 is fine, but it is
nearly $40 and it isn't in the same class as the best $40
wines around.
what are the 407's going for at DM's? interesting you rate the 128 so high, unless you're talking about something different.
407 is $25.10ish. From a wine person's perspective, nothing interesting at all in my regard for 128. 128 has ALWAYS been the favourite bin wine from the inside. Let the punters mop up the Bordertown refinery crap bottled as Kalimna Bin 28 (made as much from sweetened essence as actual grape juice). To use a golfing analogy, Bin 28 is the cookie cutter Florida resort course and 128 is the quirky yet perfectly natural 80 year old Colt designed British seaside course that the mug punter dismisses as being a featureless windswept black hole. Featureless meaning no cool fountains or waterfalls.
oh wait, I had my numbers mixed up I was thinking 707 and hence my surprise...
Thommo , take a drive over to the Centenary Tavern in Sumner Park for a Dan Murphy's. Not too far for you. I don't shop for my booze anywhere else.
TT forgot the 407 ... thanks for the 128 tip ... always buy some in line with the others but it's not the first I go for! Interesting to see the 28, 128 & 138 @ $20 now ... I'm sure on the release $13 - $14 was the price?
Can I come over for a drink? ... if you are going to get these
numbers mixed up it's your shout

Nah, prices of these have been similar for five years now.
You had me at Colt.

Tithers the Hanging Rock is a nice drop - not sure what Jerry is on about. Slid down my gullet with ease this evening - nice minty taste. Jack.
Jerry was joking. Jim's missus apparently gave it the thumbs up, but the acid tongue himself hasn't ventured a solo opinion. It's good, honest cool climate Cabernet with well managed even ripeness. Which means you'll get the blackcurrant with just hints of the mint and some bitter dark chocolate and coffee. The vineyard is between those at Nagambie (Mitchelton/Tahbilk) and the Strathbogie ones (Plunkett).
