Plasma TVs under $1100

Can anyone recommend brands and models to make a shortlist of (or ones to avoid due to known problems!)? We’ve finally decided to upgrade from a 27 inch flat CRT and set top box, I’m thinking plasma because my wife is EXTREMELY sensitive to motion blur and a jittery/juddery picture, she gets migraines easily, and we’ve heard that plasma is easier on the eyes. Also plasmas nice colours and blacks, and LED can sometimes look too real to her. However, if LED is as smooth nowadays for motion, we’ll consider it. It’s so hard to judge in-store as they hook 20 TVs up to one shared signal so they all look jerky in store. Max budget $1100, I know this gets entry-mid level not top end, but we can’t afford top end. Viewing distance is 3 – 3.6m so thinking 50 inch minimum? Budget is also lowish as I will need to upgrade my amp, and also purchase a DVR. Main uses – dimly lit evening TV watching, I love sports so needs to cope with cameras panning quickly, I’d like to hook a laptop up to it sometimes, I have a PS3 and Xbox for occasional gaming and Bluray…..we use iView for catchup TV, not sure how good the inbuilt “Smart TV” web browsers are? Connected devices (either through the amp or into the TV directly) will be: DVR, PS3, Xbox 360, occasionally a laptop. Thanks for any advice.
