Can anybody shed some light on this club in any way shape or form as there is a position vacant and I’m thinking of applying for it. Thanks in advance

I’ve heard it is really really yucky and they pay is bad and the members are naughty and it smells funny and you won’t like it.

Knew a guy called Ruari that played there who was a flusher went on about it all the time.

I like the innovative membership arrangements they have. Way to go for a country club.

One of the more innovative clubs in the Albury area. As a Golf Club with a Bowling Club attached together with a Motel and what is one of the better dining facilities in the area, it aint half bad.

They have done a heap of work on developing the course over the past decade. Have not actually played there for 5 years but I used to play it regularly when I was working in the area. Probably not quite as good as Corowa, but they have spent a lot of $$$’s in plant equipment and irrigation. It’s a long way from where you are Iturfer, but as per usual, the best way to evaluate something is do it in person.

As TTR suggest, they have some innovative memberships, mine is as a ‘Remote Member’ and I do believe they are pretty well cashed up.

Not sure what Howlong is like these days, when I went there the golf course was good. The members are friendly and good bunch.
The professional there Travis Merit is an A1 bloke, everyone gets along with him. Played with him in the junior tournaments, good player. Was state rep.
Ring up and have a chat to Travis he would be pretty honest about the club with you. He’d mention all the pro’s and cons.

Played there over xmas a couple of years ago (My 3 Howlong scorecards were to get an official handicap as a matter fo fact).

The course then was in great nick …...... aside from the locusts.

They had an absolute plague of them at the time, (as did the whole of the border area) ....... so it was a matter of clearing your putts intended line on every single putt, as there were literally thousands of them laying on, and about each green.

Probably not something they advertise in the “glossy brochure” for any greenskeeper though.

Aside from that, its a great little set-up up there, with the motel situated 50 metres from the first tee, and the attached restaurant and bar are a great place to relax and unwind.

GPJ I visited their website and they had mentioned the plauge in one of the newsletters in the archive section. But your right I had to go digging : )

and besides Turfers, it probably rains there every few days… pfft, how easy is it to grow grass on a course that has had some rain in the last 2 years
