Question…. What is the feeling over there about what happened at Sandy Hook?? Mostly outrage. Gun boys have overplayed their hand. NRA coming across like genuine nuts (which they are). NRA is seen here as fruit loops,do you reckon that there will be a change in the laws or is it all just huff and puff and nothing else There ought to be a change in the laws and the NRA are bloody loonies, but they are the single most effective political bloc in the country, so I wouldn’t bet against them winning again. That is the view that we are getting over here… Highlighted by the idea of having armed guards in all schools so they can shoot the badies first….. Port Arthur changed our gun laws, people over here wonder what it is going to take to change the American gun laws We have over 16000 people killed – EVERY YEAR. That is more than all terrorism around the world. We have some nut killing people about once a week. I can’t imagine what it would take.
My mate has spent the last 20 years over there and has a fair understanding of whats going on….....
And as he stated he can’t imagine what it is going to take to get people to change their minds, he also mentioned the lack of political will to take on the NRA.

Your mate may well have lived here for 20 years, but did he ever own a gun or even go to a local shooting range or gun club?

I am not interested in the why and wherefores and have no vested interest in what Americans decide. That doesn’t mean I am not an interested onlooker.
I am not interested in telling them what they should decide or making judgement on their decision.

OK peg, point taken, but how many children have to be killed by guns that did not shoot themselves, but had a person on the other end, before someone calls a halt. The gun culture in America may be the Americans problem but the shear lunacy of it evades common sense. Guns don’t kill ppl is the catch phrase of the gun happy but it makes it a lot easier to kill dozens at a time if you have one.
The world is sick and getting sicker by the day, arms dealers are getting rich off the despair and fright of others. Surely it’s time to call a halt and if upsetting some of them by saying it as I see it , so be it. Those children did not ask to die, it was the selfishness of the gun culture that killed them

The only way things get fixed is through discussion, not all ideas are rational or possible but eventually something sticks. If we don’t try the same will keep happening. I don’t have any answers just thoughts that may give some discussion points, if they don’t OK if they do all the better. Just to reiterate, I don’t think I have the answers but I do like to put in my two cents worth. You don’t have to agree with it but at least if you criticize give your own ideas. It is easy to slag others and not contribute.

If we want to change their gun laws we need to be serious with how we present it to the US Congress. Let’s keep up the good work with this discussion, we will have solved it very soon

Racin’ Interesting read but unless I missed something it was a report cover total numbers of suspicious deaths (Murder, Suicide etc) and then broken down into male, female, age groups and then into race. Correct me if I am wrong please….....
Couldn’t see what the percentage of deaths was due to guns….
That YouTube clip posted above is made by an Australian…...... and just shows really the depth of the problem facing the overall society in the US of A when an all day firing takes place like that by Mums, Dads and Kids….......
