Yeah I know it is about a million a year via abortion, with about 70,000 of those being after 20 weeks. About 40,000 kids starve to death each day. Are we going to do a thread about that as well?

The laws need changing!! the defenition of instanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result! americans have had the same gun laws for hundred years and the same result happens every year – with more and more people killed..in fact its increasing…HELLO its not working! In this thread I presented a number of solutions that have worked in many countries and would work in the USA people are people!

2putts If you are that disinterested and think that we should not have an opinion why keep posting in this topic…........ Or am I just missing something…..... Or maybe after Port Arthur you would have supported the NRA’s stance and advocated that all tourism operators be armed so such a thing shouldn’t happen again…............ All my input in this topic is from me looking for a change, can I make that change happen, honestly no, but that doesn’t lessen the need for change to happen. My best man from my wedding is now a USA citizen and I don’t want to pick up a paper, hear it on the news or whatever that he and his good wife have been added to the list of people killed whilst the American law makers sit on their hands and do sweet fanny adams…... So if you have some constructive input do it otherwise find another topic to try and belittle people and their opinions…...........

No veiled insult, I think the “Mary Whitehouse” description is pretty apt for people who continue to tell other individuals and collectives how they should live. If you take that as a personal insult then that’s up to you. Who said I was dissinterested? I commented on the right of Americans (or any nationality for that matter) to decide on matters that concern them without interference from the outside. Which seems fair to me. Having said that this thread is hardly interference, I think some of the comments are arrogant and culturally biased but meh; bang on all you like. As I stated before, everyone (including me) will have personal reasons for feeling the way they do. But those reason are IMO not relevant in the big picture of Americans making up their own minds. If that particular aspect of this situation is something you don’t wish to engage with then you are not required to.

Like 2 Putts I have looked at some of the posts on here about what has happened in the US and concluded that most are about trying to assert some type of cultural superiority. Americans elected George Bush, they have guns, ergo they are red neck dumb asses. We would rank IMO as one of the most thin skinned nations on earth (NZ aside), any attempt from outside to either make a comment on our way of life or suggest change is met with derision, Yet many here are happy to roll out their “pollyanna” solutions to what is an incredibly difficult problem in the US. 300m firearms and a culture of gun ownership means our solutions are ludicrous or at best pissing into the breeze. I don’t have an answer but if I was an American, I would tell most of you to fcuk off.
