Great Beer

Just discovered this thread. In another life I worked at Mountain Goat, so yes I love my brews. Plenty of great brew mentioned on here. If in Richmnd go to Slowbeer on Bridge Rd, near Burnley. Probably the best beer store in Melbourne/AUS Some faves off top of my head – almost anything from Red Hill, Bright, Sierra Nevada, St Bernadus (the 12 is the best widely available beer in the world I reckon), Epic, The Beast (what a brilliant Aussie IPA), Renaissance Scotch Ale and Porter from NZ, Zwyiac Porter ($19 for 6 at Dans, she’s 9% alc and pure heaven). Murray’s – possibly the best brewery in AUS, just love their brews. What else? Rochefort 10 and 8, saison DuPont , Cantillon Brewery stuff, possibly the most unique brewery you’ll see, in Brussels, do amazing spontaneous fermenting beers. Traquair in Scotland – Jacobite Ale and House Ale are rippers. Also Durham Temptation, lovely. I’m off for now, bloody thirsty after thinking about all that!
There’s many a slip ’tween a cup and a lip. |

Anyone tried Two Birds range of beers? Got great reviews on SEN116 a few weeks back.
Handicap, I’m working on it. – Edit: Feb 2013 still, working on it. |

Last year I was in Alaska and stopped for an overnight at a quirky little town called Talkeetna.

XXXX tastes like crap these days, some good Tasmanian and South Aust Brews though.Coopers hard to beat and large bottles which other companies don`t provide.
Broomsticks, Trevor Chappell and Lance Armstrong love theirs. |

That is an aweful beer. Fair go I only said it was in the fridge. I like to buy a different one every now and then to taste. And yes it’s not the greatest but not the worst either. Little Creatures Pale Ale is a nice drop and one of my favourites is the Longboard Pale Ale. Cheers

and what would these brews from tasmania and south oz be coopers top of the range in the bigger brewries and still i dont mind a good pale ale from coopers specially the dregs from them barrell wich most places will not serve you the dregs of the barrel of coopers pale ale as the publican thought it was not appealing to the customer infact the last part of a coopers keg is what makes this beer as it is full of nutrition and brings the best flavours to this beer…. true i agree it doesnt look right but to me its like mothers milk Always roll a coopers pale ale back and forward about 1/2 dozen times gently just enough to get the sendiments through the beer do this you will find the ale step up a gear however i would not call a coopers a real specialty beer it is built for the masses and is excellent beer for that type of range coopers, boags, cascade all still to me fall under the cub or lion nathan type brewries, get out these beers and get stuck into the craft brews and the door just widens up

Just tried Dos Blockos Pale Lager. Very, very nice. Love the fact that they are individually wrapped in a brown paper bag. Classic. Bit pricey, $22 for a six pack from Dan’s, but happy to support local brewers making such good quality beer.

Mad Brewers Ginger Chops was an interesting “limited” release late last year,we have sold out of ours and a product that had rather mixed reviews which I found drinkable really cold.

hmmm well later today might go and discover the taste of matilda bay’s minimum chips…. have all sorts of rumours that this beer is a good one from them as well as just a mediocre beer

ok went a brought me a six pack of minimum chips i am not sure wether it is up there with the best of the lagers i have tried however its not all that bad my first mouthful i like to Smell the beer put it up to the light to look at the colouration (yes i know to you uneducated beer drinkers its gold in colour but that isint what i am looking for) then a good mouthful and at this point i like to give it a good swirl around the mouth to get the flavours working with my palate. the swallowing the beer then last of all waiting for the after taste to show up what i found that this beer for a golden lager is that it is rather clear beer in which a good lager should be Matilda bay in my thoughts have used the pale and crystal malts fantastic giving them the good colouration in that beer The crispy refreshing flavours from the malts gave me a real nice hit of maltiness not to full but not really dull either with in which i think balances this beer quite well The after taste leaves a good sharp hit and is also quite crisp in my thought this beer has some characteristics of a fat yak but not as bitey as the fat yak gives you I think it is a beer that you could sit down easy enough over a good meal or just sitting back chilling out watch a footy on the telly is it worth a try i say yes
