I think it would be good to have a section hosted by The Golf Course Superintendents’ group.
See my post in Course Architecture on sanding cored greens.

Admin – great idea – we need some green keepers here on ISG – do we go out and lobby or do we have some already?

Political Correctness is doctrine fostered by a delusional minority and by the media, which holds forth the proposition it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Yep good idea for a forum – just need the greenkeepers to make it possible

I don’t – hence the statement :)

Perhaps a contact with the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association ( I think that is the title) could get some volunteers to be regular respondents to our memebrs’ queries.
It might make sense to wrap the subject forum into Golf Course Architecture.

Case of self help. If they wish to help then the help is here to look after them platform wise.

Calling them ‘greenkeepers’ isn’t going to help. Believe me, I’ve been told in no uncertain terms a few times when I’ve referred to them as greenkeepers in articles I’ve written. Not a mistake I’ll make again.

One of the Golf Course Superintendent’s on here has an extremely embarrassing forum name & such a love of Iron Maiden that he probably doesn’t want the Superintendent’s Association to know who he is. :D

who is this person you talk about….

Who gives a rip what we call them or what they choose to call themselves – In Australia I’ve only know them as greenkeepers because that’s what the ones I know call themselves…

But then, I suppose it’s like us Firefighters, we don’t like being called firemen because firemen work on choo choos – if you know what I mean…

In my english dictionary a superintendent is an officer, administrator, examiner, director, manager, supervisor or a controller – says nothing about a grass grower.

Oh, our Senior Officers are called superintendents as well ;-))

Anyway we love them (superintendents) even though they don’t love us we would love to have their input into the forum – the information they give would be invaluable, priceless, precious, very useful, helpful and important…

Yep, putting the dictionary away now :-))

I know a fellow who was a greenskeeper for 7 years in SE melbourne, will have a chat with him. Works at a lawn and garden
place but sometimes he comes down to my club for a bash.I meet him a couple of years ago when I was planning on building a 4 by 5 metre green in my backyard,he talked me out of it pretty quickly.

Every one I’ve ever had a beer with likes to be called Greens Keeper…

Lawn bowls are Green Keeper, the difference being we have 18 of them on most courses….

Superintendent is becoming en vogue… girly girl… lol

ahhh "consistency" the holy grail of golf....

I’m not quite in the Superinendent area, but can possibly answer some of the queries. I know quite a few Supers if its beyond my capability

Just combine Fave Golf Courses and Golf Architecture into one forum (no need to split them since my mate Cashy took his bat and ball and went home in tears) which can then cover all aspects of the course questions including maintenence. Too easy.

I’ve just shot off an email to this person asking would he be interested in coming on board link
