I’m newish to I seek golf and love browsing the forums and reading all the opinions and tips. So far I haven’t found a forum for any female golfers? Can there be a specific forum developed? Or do you find that there aren’t too many womens who browe the site?
|
|
I personally don’t see the need for a separate forum for women, we are here to talk and seek advice on golf. Whether you are male or female doesn’t really matter as it’s all (mostly) about the golf.

Yea don’t let the MCPs around here put you off, they are all good blokes at the end of the day and will help you along and answer any questions you may have. Just as a sidenote, because of the ratio of male golfers to female, I think a solely female site would be rather quiet. Anyways, welcome to the forum!

I would imagine 95% of the blokes on this site are blokes. And being blokes, sometimes they do come out with some un-PC language, attitudes and jokes. Which could well be off putting to non-blokes. But my impression is that sporting forums are generally the domain of blokes rather than non-blokes. Just the way it is I think. If you want to discuss Parenting, Recipes, Health and Beauty, TV, Movies, Hobbies, Pets, Weight Loss then head off to All For Women. Any comments that I moonlight on those forums will be met with legal action.

Thanks Franky B and Mr Consistency for your posts. Had a suspicion that there wouldn’t be many women around, but never know if you don’t ask. I play off 19 and am coming back to golf after playing a lot in my teens. I’m 25 and not looking to join a club just yet, but want to find out about other Womens competitions around Melbourne and it’s surrounds. I’ve checked out the main websites and there are tournaments listed there. I’ve rung around to several clubs that indicate non members with a handicap are allowed to enter their club competitions from the 2008 Golf Course Guide. Some responses have been very submissive. So the main reason to link in with a womens forum was to find out which clubs are more receptive to non members joining in their weekend comp on a Sunday. So I didn’t want to find a womens forum to ditch the men on here, as I said I love browsing the forums and learn new things every day. I do tune out of the Egotistical debate forums. But life is life and everyone is entitled to their view and good on them. Which leads me to Muntz and his post. Mr generalisation. Glad having the opportunity to post that gave you a kick. Not sure it was important nor relevant to my question, but as I said, you get that on forums. Good Golfing boys! Cheers, Ingi:)

Welcome Ingi, You’ll find a lot of good people on here….including Muntz and only a small percentage of egotistical ones. You’ll find that most of us don’t care what gender you are as we are here to talk about about our obsessions. Enjoy your stay and hopefully it’ll be a long one. Patrick

Don’t worry about Muntz Ingi (he carries to many wedges). If you are interested in golf link comp on Sat morn at reatively easy public course (low stress) post a reply. Only one lady plays in it tho. Pay green fees plus couple bucks for comp.

Hey Kiwi,

|
As the name suggests, another female here but no help to you because I’m in Brisbane.
They called it golf because all the other good four letter words were taken. |
|
Strewth. I was just trying to make the observation that the forums for women don’t seem to have any interest in sport. And sporting forums tend to be dominated by men. Stamp me as a neanderthal MCP… if it gives you a kick.

Thanks for your observation Muntz. Perhaps I could have taken it more in the good nature it was intended… But, as I’m trying to find out if there are any women on these GOLF forums, and not just women in general ( I could just call up my mum for a chat if I wanted to talk parenting, knitting, or whatever else..) I didn’t really find your suggestion amusing or helpful at the time. Cheers, Ingi

I wasn’t trying to imply you were interested in those things. I was being ironic, which is always a risk I guess.

Surely at 25 you can’t be already knitting Ingi!

Ingi ,from all downtrodden and maligned golfers(women, newbies and lefthanders) I welcome you to this humble website and shall refrain from questions like , why is there a ladies only day but no men’s only day? until you get settled and start enjoying yourself.HAVE A GOOD TIME!!
I can move the ball both ways..... I just don't know when..... |

Mr C Whats wrong with knitting. I,ve often thought of giving up golf & taking up knitting. It.s got to be easier than golf!! Doesn,t it???. Welcome Inge. Do not believe everything these guys post. Some of them think they are comedians.
A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all.

Yea nothings wrong with knitting… just at 25 you are on the wrong side of 100… Everything has a time and a place, for knitting its after 50 and if your male, in secrecy 8)

Better luck next time muntz. Ingi… the sheilas hang out at The Girls Forum.

Ingi never mind the razzing in here:) It would be cool to get a section for the ladies going where the blokes can read but not post unless they are shaved legged and wearing a skirt when they post in it:) There are not many female forum members but there are a lot who receive the newsletters so if you keep plugging away in here you will end up with a group who will brave the male interruptions. Good luck!

Really didn’t mean to cause any offense. Some of my best friends are women… When you hop onto forums it’s easy to get put off by unsophisticated yahoos like, erm, myself. But stick with ISG Ingi, it’s one of a kind. A really lively, interesting (sometime mind-altering) community as long as you can filter out the occasional turkey that blows in and out.

I was knitting when I was 14…...after I was hit by a car and broke my leg…get it… knitting, broken leg… :)

Muntz has it in one. Its rather like walking into a strange bar and getting to know the locals:)

Hi Ingi, just wondering which side of Melbourne you’re after, if it makes a difference?
Well....Tiger was taken! And it's Cheetah - not Cheater, thank you very much. |
