Is the PM function still going to be implemented?

Just wondering, because I (along with other users I’m sure) am not keen posting my email address on a public forum where it can be picked up by spam trawlers..

Yes agreed and definitely is coming – we got sidetracked by our live teetimes project but it is already finished but needs a bit of final polishing yet.

So I would probably say Jan 2008 as a rough date….

Remember to put your emails up as info AT iseekgolf.com – that will mean the spammers don’t get it.

On other boards I post on, the PM’s are a pain in the ass ‘cos the spammers get in there and flood everyones inbox with junk. I hate PM’s – get rid of them…

never had that problem freddy_k and the guys here seem to keep a pretty good eye on potential spammers.

We keep a pretty tight eye on things here, we’re alerted to all sort of things that are out of the ordinary and we fix them ASAP.

Anyway, I’m sure we could create you a “disable PM” type setting if required.

seriously though guys, it is generally not a wise move to post an email address on a web page. There are bots that scan web pages for email addresses and add them to spam lists.

try a format like

frankyb1968 ( at ) hotmail ( dot ) com

or something equally as clear to a human but that a bot would find more difficult to make a real address out of.

Andre I have a two hotmail and two home accounts, one that gets shyteloads of spam that I use for the dodgy sites and the main account, you will never see that addy on any forum…but I agree that those that are new to the net should do it the way you advise. As far as I am concerned hotmail is purely for posting on sites.

pm’s are overrated

PM’s are exellent and I also can’t wait till there up and running. I am a member on 6 other forums, non golf related, and they all use a pm system and not once have they been spammed.

I agree with Sarg. I’m a member of a number of other forums and have never been spammed via their PM systems.

Why don’t you just put your email address in your signature? Just as easy as having PM’s (if you must)

freddy, we understand you don’t like PM’s but you will one day have to get used to the idea that other people like them, and I for one would rather get a PM than an email.
