Am glad to see Hilfenhaus in the mix...the 4 retirements opened up a few spots - Dizzy will be happy to keep his tongue.gif

Comments ?

Simon Katich won't be happy.

No Cosgrove????

Beware of cheap imitations - Especially from the US

seems bowler heavy.

Cosgrove should be there ahead of Hopes.

Watson is a poor mans Kallis and Hopes is a dead mans Watson!

Katich has every reason to feel shafted. A couple of years ago he was being touted as the future captain of Australia, now he's struggling.

I wonder whose wife he gave a touch-up?

On a few occasions he has complained in the press about not being selected in the Test and ODI teams, maybe that has something to do with it.

perhaps not scoring ANY runs has more to do with it?

He was mentally destroyed by the selectors in the Steve Waugh era and has sadly never recovered - fantastic player.

Bit like Jamie Siddons and his unfortunate date with 'that bouncer'

I heard that they offered him a contract, but he slapped a bit of BBQ sauce on and ate it, so they eventually decided against re-offering it.

I thought that Siddons's issue was more to do with his good lady wife?

combination of both Fyirippu.

He was a sensational player before he copped one in the temple and never played a confident front foot shot again in his career.

Surpised Cullen and Gillespie kept their contracts over Katich and Cosgrove.

Happy to see Dizzy get a golden handshake, he hasn't really 'cost' anyone a spot, so they did him a bit of a favour I reckon.

I'd ditch Hopes and Cullen for Katich and Cosgrove and if Dizzy wasn't such a champion I'd ditch him for Luke Butterworth.

Do they really need Symonds, Watson, White, Voges and Hopes on contract?

More specialists thanks.

I'm glad that Dizzy has got a batsman's spot, but I should think that Katich feels really shafted !!!

What about Wayne Holdsworth getting one ?? (Where is he now ?)

Interesting that only two Taswegians made the list considering they took out the shield last year ? (and Ponting hardly played a game) but that said besides Di Venuto there's no-one knocking on the door just yet.

As usual NSWelshmen dominate the list and it just doesn't seem the same without Warne, McGrath etc. lucky for us Hayden, Ponting and Gilchrist are still around to help the youngsters !!

Hopefully Hoggy can wiggle his way into the Test spot for Warne.

Luke Butterworth was surely pretty close.

Tim Paine will have a contract next year.

is this a joke?

Katich had a modest year with the bat - didn't justify a contract.
Gillespie had a solid year and justified a contract on that basis plus he's insurance against the young blokes not coming on.
Hopes is a good one day player and his stats justify being considered.
Butterworth has only played three first class games. Not sure he's quite there yet Moe. Paine had a poor year with the bat. Tassie's performance this year owed so much to Hilfenhaus it's not funny. None of their batsmen had brilliant years.
Cosgrove had a modest year too and so didn't justify selection - if his attitude was spot on I think he'd be performing better.
Cullen was probably fortunate but then no other spinner really stamped himself as a competitor. And we should remember most spinners take a while to mature to test standard.

The spots up for grabs are between Rogers and Jaques for Langer's spot, and who'll take Pigeon and Warnie's spots.

Peanuts - missing out on an ACB contract doesn't discount you from being selected for Australia. Katich is significantly senior to a lot of players and should have got one. I'm not saying Dizzy doesn't deserve one, but there are a hell of a lot of bowlers that got them. They could all still fail and Dizzy get a call up regardless of how he gets paid at the end of the day.
