Cricket Aust. youth policy

I am sick of hearing about certain players getting picked because they are the future of Austrlain cricket- picked ahead of someone who is clearly better than they are at present. Cricket is not the same as an AFL or NRL season where their is a definite end point to each season with one objective. If you have no chance of winning the premiereship, then develop your youth. However, there is no point in picking anything but your best side avaiable every game when Australia plays. Develpo the youth in A sides and touring parties, but don’t give them a baggy green unless they are the best available at that time. To me, the baggy green has lost a lot of its lustre over the past few years.

What about this for a radical idea. Pick your best players and play them at all times whenever possible. The best players are the best players and the cream always rises to the top. Stop this rotation, horses for courses crap.

I do believe in picking players that can play spin for Indian conditions I dont belive in the rotation policy – train less if test matches are close together Pckk our best 11 and stick withn them the west indiaes picked thier best 11 from 1975 to 1990 they dominated we picked our best 11 from about the mid 90’s till 2007 -2008 we dominated sports science is ruining players careers IMO the trouble with these so called athletes is they havent played the game at elite level….some may have but not many I have a feeling Mike Hussey retired because he doesnt like the coaching structure…..Just feeling no hard evidence why would he retire at the peak of his powers? yet hes luvin cricket under Justin Langer

... It does make you wonder. He is the last of the true Aussie cricket professionals. The new generation are ‘guns for hire’ T20 style…..
Handicap, I’m working on it. – Edit: Feb 2013 still, working on it. |

huss left cause of the pressure of being away from the kids all the time. He has 3, young too, and when a tour to india can see you away for 6-12 weeks it can be tough on the kids n wife! i reckon this rotation policy is a result of the sports science software they use now days identifying that a player is going to break down or do damage to himself before he does it. they then rest them accordingly. either way our players seems to have a major respect problem, which can then lead to all sorts of issues (as we are now seeing)!!

OK I think pick the best 11 regadless of age Hussey Langer Hayden Martyn all excelled when they got close to 30…Boof Lehman also yet when picked as younger players struggled make players earn their spot in the side

For an easy fix …........ just get rid of the selectors . they are the source of the trouble, and not the untalented 20 20 players around the country who get trust a completely undeserved and unwarranted baggy green. They (the selectors) haven’t done a good job for years, and have no clue as to what is needed when. They seem to operate at least “one test behind” what is occurring at the moment, particularly in India .. but even during the last series at home. It seems that they’re “eeny meeny miny mo” approach has simply not borne the fruits they expected it to . so get rid of them and get some in who have played the game and know what’s required and when.. And get rid of the sports science guys whispering in the selectors ears. If it was good enough for Dougie Walters to score over 5,000 runs with a dart in one hand, and a can in the other …. then it’s good enough for the modern day player …. so ban sports scientists completely. Make the players earn they’re spots first …..... and then give them enough time to prove themselves. It’s not that bloody hard is it?
