Have the Australian cricket hierarchy (board, selectors, coach) gone stark raving mad. Watson, Pattinson, Johnson and Khawaja have been sent home from the tour of India because they failed to take part in a peer review of the side’s dismal performance in the second Test. Did I miss the Australian Cricket resurgence back to the number 1 test playing nation and we are now so fecking fantastic that we can afford to send 4 guys home because they didn’t do their homework. Since when did we start selecting our nations athletes on their ability to do a PowerPoint presentation. Seriously, wtf is going on over there.
As a cricketer the Coverdrive was the hardest shot to master. As a golfer, I can achieve it with frustrating regularity. |

Power trip by the “coach” and possibly one or two others. Now Watson is going home to be with his wife. This will end in tears eventually, you’d have to think.

Micky Arthur - What has this bloke done since taking over? Nothing…justin langer should be our coach. Look at what hes done for wa….mick arthur did zilch when he coached WA…. Look at langer and hes getting results!! Assignments- a bloody joke!! Get rid of Arthur!
Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding? |

So the coach tries to palm off his role to the players and gets upset when they dont do it? So primary school. The rest of the squad should quit and tell them to go stuff themselves. Obviously Clarkes honeymoon period is over, and his gen y characteristics are starting to come through.

Who knows what goes on whilst they’ve been on tour …... Perhaps this was management’s way to try and get them to actually think about WTF is going on out on the field …...... cause at the moment …....... they certainly don’t play like they have any clue as to what they should be doing out there. All it does though (this situation), is show there is something deeply wrong with the mindset of all involved …. that has now led to four players getting the “sars”. That either rightly or wrongly unfortunately …........ has to come down to management, who have obviously misread the mood of the group .... and then put themselves in a position of being forced to act. One thing that is just death to any touring party …. is dissension in the ranks …. and it appears this “peer review” may have caused it. If it is the root cause, then I hope the “peer review” was worth it …... and if not, then its just one more symptom of something deeper …...... that is eating away at Australian cricket at the highest level. Either way, its not good the the smooth running of the touring party, and will no doubt leave the Poms wondering just what sort of rabble they’re actually going to be up against in a couple of months time.

Clarke is still a little boy and, other than his prodigious batting talent, he doesn’t command respect. He is not and never will be a Border or Waugh. We need to go to the old Pommie system of appointing a captain who can play a bit whilst we are between decent teams. As much as it will grate with some it probably means George Bailey as I don’t see anyone better at the moment. Arthur has obviously lost the players. The fact that 2 of them forgot to do the task means they didn’t take it seriously and why would they. He has to go and Boof Lehman is the man to replace him. Players are breaking down at the same rate if not worse than before so the high performance manager can take a walk as well. Dank is currently unemployed and so is available for a quick fix. Then there are the selectors who pick Lyon on seaming wickets in Oz and don’t pick a second spinner on dust bowls in India. At the same time they pick 4 opening bats who by their nature like the ball coming on to them and guess what they fail against spin. They have failed miserably as did their predecessors so I am stuffed if I know who should succeed them. Time for another review, must be some old codger from banking or politics looking for some pocket money
A Golfer until the day I die despite playing absolutely crap |

Bring back AB. He would have reviewed them all in one or two sentences and everyone would have known where they stood.
Taking lack of talent to a whole new level. |

Maybe do what i did.
It’s all about the Stat’s |

So, these cricketers are paid a fortune (more than most of us would earn in 2 decades!!) to play a game for a living. But as soon as they are asked to do something, like filling out a bit of paper explaining why they are playing like poo and what they can do better, 4 players couldn’t be bothered to do it!! And the majority of the world wants to try and say the players are hard done by and have been screwed over?? PLEASE!! Whilst i am deffinetly no fan of Arthur and all this rubbish rotation policy, personally I think what they’ve done here is a good thing. And if Watson wants to take his ball and go home cause he got in trouble (like a frigin little schoolgirl), then so be it!! Could you imagine what Wayne Bennett, or Craig Bellamy etc would do if one of their players was instructed to do something like this and didn’t do it….... I’m pretty sure they’d be sitting out the next game as well.
grooveless, the only way to play golf…… now a ’groove-snob’, and never going back!! :) |

It would seem that Watto, got the sads, and will not be missed at Test level, I mean what has he done lately? I can tell you that playring India, in India this time of year, a month or two before an Ashes Tour is not great for any Australian Test player. Some of them need to think about whether they have what it takes to play Test Cricket. Hughes should not have gone over there. Arthur was a mistake, it now seems a big mistake. Langer would be my pick, or Hussey.

Agree 100%, and they should be fined heavily etc. but suspending players is a fkn joke.

Boof has a pretty good resume, I like Langer as well.
Play it as it lies, get on with it, its not life or death, its just a game! |
|
How much would you think they should be finned Simmo?? These guys earn a fortune, a fine means nothing to them. Suspending them from playing hurts more than taking a few thousand dollars off them…...

And who cares about the millions of supporters back in australia who pay the players & officials salaries. Surely picking the best team possible to represent our country is a bigger priority than discipling misbehaving cricketers. They failed to hand in their homework ffs. Ifs not like they did something serious like drinking past curfew or making inappropriate comments on a social media network! Have any of the 4 players in question been in trouble before?

Well said Liptout. Mind you it is only Cricket so who really Cares. I bet Josh Duggan would have done his homework up on the roof downing several beers resting his injury Now Im off to my room to do a hundred lines of Cricket sends me to sleep…...cricket sends me to sleep…crick…zzzzz. Zzzzzzz Goodnight.
Im the other Tom Watson and I once got a Bronze Medallion Lifesaving Certificate whilst wearing striped pyjamas. |

Seems there have been other bits and pieces adding up to a collective whole and this became the final bit. Not suspending them – after making a threat they would be – would only promote the FIGJAM attitude that has also cursed Aussie cricket in the past. Personally, I think the threat to suspend was probably the wrong thing to do – like Jim Maxwell said, some sort of control-freakism. But one thing I do agree with… ARTHUR OUT!!!!! You can’t tell me there isn’t an Aussie capable or willing to take the job, with lashings of international experience, who would bring an Aussie culture with a dose of straight talking to underperforming “super stars”. Chappelli, AB, Boof are all such a type. Would Langer have such a straight-talking streak about him? Dunno.

Oh dear what a fine mess, worse then a dose of Delhi Belly…....... One thinks that what has happened has far deeper roots than what has been exposed so far and as to what collateral damage there will be time will tell…... After the 1st test I questioned the pride in donning the Baggy Green and maybe that might be very true. Some of the team bust a gut trying to win whilst others stand around like glorified stock brokers checking their bank balance…....... I think I am right in saying this. Steve Waugh got all his team to make a presentation to the rest of the team about a past cricketer or team that gave one and all an insight into what it meant to done that Baggy Green and the pride it should be worn with. Has Clark got the full respect of the team, I would say no. Langer was stated that if Steve Waugh said we are going to run through that brick wall, well that is what we did. Clark doesn’t hold that authourity over the team. Coach, I am of the opinion that he might have come to his use by date, will be interesting to see how the team preforms in the 3rd test. The 4 players who failed a managerial request for input, I don’t think they have an excuse. Dropping them for the next test might seem harsh but fining them is a pointless exercise. Should the coach have asked them to complete the task he put to the team? I would say yes, from what I can read it was meant as means to get all the players thinking about how best to improve themselves and the team rather than being spoon feed the information….. As to what next …......... That is a worrying thought, very worrying….. We need a Captain that has the full respect of the players, wont tolerate some of the crap that is going on and is not afraid to give the rev up when required. if all some of the players are thinking about is money then let them flock off to the IPL and mark their cards never to be selected for Australia….. I mean to say the price paid for Maxwell….. India is a tough place to play cricket, no doubts a quote from then captain Border to Dean Jones comes to mind The Ashes could well be very depressing…...

X2. Obviously some deep seated problems going on but if 4 players fail (for whatever reason) to carry out a simple instruction given to them by the coach what does that say ? I’m above this and don’t need to do it - The rest of the team can do it but it’s not for me Hardly conducive to a united, winning team mentality.

Mick Arthur is clueless and dare I say doesnt know anything about Australian culture if you want to solve a problem YOU get the blokes in and put a couple slabs of beer on dressing room floor and open up with “so what do you reckon boys” you get more out of that approach than some stupid essay OH please and why would you survey the 12th man I mean what would he have to say “geez I ran the drinks well and the gatorade was cold!!..I mean seriously what is the 12th man supposed to say? or other blokes that didn’t play hey can any of you blokes give me some advice on how I played golf this weekend when you were not actually there? I mean how bloody stupid can this bloke be? this bloke has to go! thanks for your efforts but if you can motivate the players through discussion then there is no way you should be national coach…I see auskick coaches who can motivate 7 year old kids play AFL…they would make better coaches than Arthur while Watsons dummy spit seemed poor – I think on the face of it I get where hes coming from – I simply dont want to be around this bloke is what hes thinking. I dont blame him….frankly If I was player I would want to punch on with Arthur…. Mick Arthur didnt do that well as coach of South Africa – nor WA ) Langer has turned boiled lollies into choclates in 8 weeks….MICK arthur has achived zilch while at the helm of WA southe Africa or Austrlia bar get fat and have tripple chin…sorry I dont respect coaches that dont respect thier own body (I dont listen to fat doctors either!!) Langer is a bloody passionette man…he bled for our team, he took bruises from Curtley Ambrose in his first innings – If he was speaking I would listen – If Arthur was seaking I would be thinking typical South African arrogance… these guys can all play the game, youre role is to motivate them not lose thier confidence with elite coaching its about motivating the team…arthur cant do this to save himself, that is clearly evident. Clear as day
Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding? |

Clarke would say I think we shoud get some pink paint and paint the wall some pretty colours – that would be a nice way to sp[end the arvo hey lads

Does the baggy green really mean all that much to the current group of players? Or are they just filling in time until the next T20 competition starts….
Handicap, I’m working on it. – Edit: Feb 2013 still, working on it. |

Every time a player has lost a match fee or portion in last few years.About 80 percent wearing an Oz uniform.Doesn`t surprise at all this current crop of Nobs.Hussey the exception.
