Picking the 11 batsmen was still the best option - 1/ they would not have bowled any worse than the “bowlers” We will be lucky to last to lunch. The cupboard is pretty bare for decent Australian cricketers at the moment.
Play it as it lies, get on with it, its not life or death, its just a game! |

Have we been put out of our misery yet?
“If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?” |

Well the game is over but I am still miserable. As I write Swann and Monty are spraying weed killer on every test pitch in England. No green tops in the up and coming Ashes series

The English Cricket Board just approved the Visa for the Chennai curator and his 15 closest family members. He takes up the role of curator at Lords on Monday.
As a cricketer the Coverdrive was the hardest shot to master. As a golfer, I can achieve it with frustrating regularity. |

The test team is reaping the benefits of a poor Shield Competition. Once upon time the selectors need only look who was performing at that level and you had virtually an instant Test standard player. The IPL and Big Bash and other competitions of this ilk have also meant young aspiring cricketers will not yearn for test caps (only 11 play at a time and 17 get contracts with CA). Why would he ever aspire to the hard slog of test cricket when there are no guarantees? Remember Shaun Tait – rolls hid arm over for 4 overs every few days for a couple of months When the likes of these players probably have no desire to play Test cricket why would they bother with shield cricket? Standard of comp and players fall. Test cricket is hard slog, 20/20 is not. Do you think Maxwell cares too much about his performance, he has got his baggy green virtually unsoiled to keep forever and $1 million IPL contract to fall back on!

what we need to do Recruit Indian coaches to teach our spinners how to bowl spin….warne isnt interested in coaching as hes too busy tweating and complaining without doing anything we need our spinners to learn from the best spinning coaches we can get our hands on….. soccer uses European coaches yeah…...why because they are the best coaches Dave warner – seeya he has far too many technique flaws so too hughes I would be investing in technically correct players….
Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding? |
|
Didn’t Inverarity state that Phil Hughes was the second best player of spin the in Australian team? What a joke. Who is the third best? Dropping Lyon, sorry resting Lyon when he is our best spinner in Australia? What a joke. No Clarke is promising changes? Its too late. They need to admit they stuffed up selection for both tests. The series in gone.
Handicap, I’m working on it. – Edit: Feb 2013 still, working on it. |

MacGill is the new spin coach, I think he knows a little about that. You won’t find many technically correct batsmen, they are learning to hit 4 and 6’s to earn the big bucks at 20/20.

Blind freddy could see this coming. OZ sport at the monent has a foul odour about it and it is coming from the administration.
Initial Handicap (11/02/2012): 18.6 |

Crap team on Ashes eve.
Broomsticks, Trevor Chappell and Lance Armstrong love theirs. |
|
Clarke’s 91 was ok. He should have scored a big ton.

It is either scrap the big bash crap, it just encourages the Warner types, or scrap test cricket as they are incompatible. As an old fart who played the game for a long time, albeit at a very low level, test cricket is the only legitimate form of the game. Call 20/20 rounders or vigaro that the girls used to play at secondary school.

Agree 20/20 is not real cricket but it is where the big bucks are for minimal effort and is where all the talented young bucks will head. If I was a youngster I would learn how to bowl 4 overs at less than 6 runs an over or hit it big or preferably both, neither of which are particularly compatible to the longer version of the game. The public in the end will decide if test cricket survives. 50 over cricket is in decline judging by attendances this last summer.

Could it be said that the decline in Test Cricket is obvious with twenty20 hindsight?
Too much slow play means that golf has a wait problem |

Like that Mekat… : ^)
Got nothing. |

I did say he had done well in 1st test and yes that was a good knock again but take his 2 scores out and where the flock would we be…...... at the bottom of the ocean playing tiddlie winks with the Kiwi cricket team…...
|
|
and he was dropped early…easy catch
Got nothing. |
|
Could it be that they also use spinners in the IPL, and know they should on the dusty tracks there?

Can the pieces of ground they serve up in India be legitimately called pitches?
