Nothing in it, the rant was just about being competitive and wanting to win and he had every right to do so. Most of the great players have that competitive niggle in them to try and get under the oppositions skin. It’s not golf, people are to precious.

By the players wearing mic’s it is more entertaining for us, but they have been criticized ever since or stump mic’s. I remember watching when they didn’t have this Steve Waugh/ Curtly Ambrose, Justin Langer stirring the bowers up, Lillee, McGrath some of the stuff we didn’t hear would have been much worse, without this competitiveness they wouldn’t of been the players they were.

What did he actually do to get suspended? What your not allowed to try intimidate or stir the opposition up anymore, it was pretty tame vocally and the under arm lob wouldn’t of hurt a five year old. If you’ve played much cricket you would have seen a lot worse.

As you are not privy to the way my mind works or does not work I will give you some background.

I come from a city in the UK that has a good warped sense of humour, nothing anyone said was taken at face value because there was always an underlying piss take, we did not use the coarse humour prevelant in Australia. The party and social scene when I grew up was always the local pub where you met the real characters of the day and that sort of humour sticks. The pub scene in the UK was a good social experience you went there to interact with your mates not get pissed, very few in those days went home after too much grog.

Sometimes on ISG I rant about things that particularly annoy me but most of the time what I say is tounge in cheek. don’t know if you believe it but I also don’t care. What used to be an old fashioned piss take is now for some reason called trolling, whoever thought that one up is only half there. It would be good to go back to the times when ppl could actually laugh at themselves, I do it all the time. The world is too uptight

This concludes my lecture on Tolenese.

I disagree with something you said there Tol. Piss taking is all good fun & does no harm to anybody. Trolling on the other hand is Malicious & meant to stir people up.
The former is always good fun. The latter needs stamping on as soon as it becomes apparent.

I see trolling as malitiouse gossip not poking fun, I agree Pom under those circumstances it is not good. What I try to do is bring a little humour to what is sometime a dry forum, it seems that some don’t appreciate it. If you are a Pom, you would know the pub social scene.

You can travell 30 ks in England and the accent customs and slang is completely different. When I started a new job I was in digs for 3 months waiting for a house, I sat in a pub with fellow house guests for 6 weeks before I could understand a word they said, they only lived 200 ks from me before. Asked my wife never heard the term bellend, we came from completely different parts of the UK.

Midlands, lived in Birmingham, Liverpool and Falmouth, never came across bellend. It could be a recent saying as we left the UK in 1981, things were vastly different then, we did not even have a home phone, completely different world.

Anyway …............. I caught the so called cricket incident on the news (not Tol vs the rest) .......... and thought that it was so much fuss about nothing.

That sort of by-play goes on all the time at all levels of the game.

I didn’t catch sight of Warne at all during the so called incident …...... so I don’t know how he managed to get himself fined.

I did think that the chap bowling didn’t do too much wrong though, (whoever he was), aside from dropping the f word a couple of times, oh, and looking like his face was made of melted plastic.

It did bring a bit of life to the game I guess, and perhaps may get one or two more butts on the seat in the coming games …. but I still don’t know how Warne got a mention when he clearly was nowhere to be seen.
