Koby Stevens and Tom Swift both excel at WAFL level as inside mids but are consistently played as outside HFF. If the coaching staff are realistic hopefully they will realise that Priddis is exceptionally one dimensional and it is maybe time to give someone else a shot.

Collingwood are also interested in Lynch according to the grape vine.

Another A grade mid is needed and I am sure the draft will deliver something. Next year Shuey, S Selwood, Masten, Gaff should all really hit their straps.

LeCras and Nicoski back next year will surely make the team worse as well.

Problem is I don’t think that anyone playing on Saturday is out of contract other than Lynch which means Woosher has his hands tied behind his back this year. Therefore he has to clean out the maybe’s who haven’t delivered and replace the duds in the team. Masten is one who will not get another contract (I will bookmark this and post whether I am right or wrong – not afraid of a mea culpa). Do agree that Nicoski and LeCras will both be straight into the team if they recover.

Masten will not get another contract, I think you will be wrong. On what basis do you think this?

Outside mid who cannot kick. I don’t see any upside in him. Tops the list for clangers at WCE in 2012 and has 5 above him for contested possessions so it isn’t that he is under pressure all the time and when he is he normally handballs anyway. Gaff is way above him in that outside role. Desperate need for inside mids to take over from Kerr who maybe has only 1 or 2 seasons left. Poor bugger had to do all of the hard work alone on Saturday night.

I don’t always trust clanger stats because Masten can kick it, Lynch can misread it and it goes down as a clanger to Masto.

He is also a very good kick of the football and has been this year I would suggest you need to watch more of him play as some of his delivery has been superb. In years gone by he struggled with OP, confidence and stringing games together.

He has also been playing more as a high HF this year. If Kerr, or Priddis (shudder) played that role there clanger stat would go up and if Masto played inside his would drop as they don’t class it as a clanger when you bang it on the boot with a bloke hanging off you. (usually)

Depending on who goes this year I do not agree that the Eagles desperately need inside mids to replace Kerr.

Kerr did play a bit of a lone hand but that is more the fault of Priddis (not his fault he is one dimensional), S Selwood (very young) and Shuey (also young). The future is not that bad.

Wellingham is a good player

Masten is one of the leagues most improved players!

2 years ago he had more turnovers than a bakery

Agree throw in lecras and nicoski and we have depth.

Brown is a loss though. Pity really as this will be glass’s last year and then hes got a spot every week.

That said I can understand his frustration.

Masten is FINALLY starting to play like a number 3 pick. Brown isnt going anywhere (yet). With Wellingham into the side lets hope he can make a Josh Hill type transformation. For someone who was being put into the A grade list of midfielders less than 12 months ago he has had a rather lacklustre year.

lecras was good..Kennedy’s first game back so too for cox and darling

the swans are good at timing thier run perfectly

they often start the season slowly but finish strong

Perhaps Collingwood were playing to win… but with ten of their best line-up in the stands or at home, and a swag of kids and new players to the club running around Subiaco oval… I’m impressed at this very early stage… especially at Collingwood’s depth.

NAB Cup…winners will care, losers will not.

Pretty solid start to the season. We seem to get our shite together for 15 minute spurts, then get smashed.

Could be a long season.

look tough draw to start but a much easier run in our next 8 games

Carlton’s pace on the outside Yarren and Garlet destroyed us

I’m a bit peeved at our recruiters who continually overlook indiginous players

Kerr still looks like our best outside player and hes 30

It was very hard to watch. We have no structure at all, can’t move the ball forward and when we do we kick a fkn point.

Do the players know eachother? – Maybe Woosha needs to tell them to get it off to another guy wearing the same colours.
