What a great start to the season for the Superbikes. Fingers crossed for both the Troys in that title race. In F1 I hope Kimi can do it again but will settle for anyone so long as it aint Lewis bloody Hamilton. Then in MotoGP I would like to see Rossi win a close season. Hopefully the Bridgestone tyres will be enough but that Ducati is going to be very hard to beat again, but if anyone can Rossi can.

What about V8’s. Great start to the season, Karma bit lowndes on the arse! I am gunning for Fernando in the F1 as a fairytale shot. Massa is the one to watch though I reckon.
down and out…did ya get that? |

Why don’t you like Lewis Hamilton? He seems quite ok to me and

V8’s are a joke. Outside of a few pubs in Australia no-one cares who wins. All they do is crash into each other.

With Ashley Cooper dead i would call it a terrible start to the year.

Like it or not Lewis Hamilton is the real deal.

Good point…I meant the main race was good to watch. I feel so sorry for his family, young guy with a young family died doing what he loves, very sad.

my mate used to race hqs with ashley cooper he was shattered left behind 2 young kids sad time in racing

It was a good race but i feel the series has lost so much depth in recent years. Its not that long ago we had 40 cars start that race and 50 at bathurst. 97 to 2003 were the golden years. Great racing and great commentary

The Fujitsu series has made fields smaller. They are talking of trimming them even further.

On Lewis he threw away the championship not once (China) but twice (Brazil). That didn’t show any mental edge to me. He had the best car on the grid all year and they friggin cheated and both drivers should have lost all their points, and he still couldn’t do it. Lets see how he goes when his car isn’t the bullet before we start the Fangio comparisons.
|
|
Yeah they may have a market for the old cars but its at the expence of the main game.

A rookie driver that not only wins races but challenges for the title and only makes 2 mistakes all year is pretty special. He outraced his illustrious team mate.A two time reigning world champion! Remember all the fast drivers that couldn’t win in a bullet like coulthard and Fisi.

What hostility? Aside from Jacques name a rookie in history who was given a car like that for their first year? I’m not being hostile just voicing my opinion, isn’t that allowed? As for outracing Alonso well there is a big questionmark over how much support old Fernando ever got from the team anyway. He deserved better than he got that’s for sure.

so long as it aint Lewis bloody Hamilton sounded a bit hostile.

What a load of shyte, the numbers turning up at the events support my opening statement. With Ashley Cooper dead i would call it a terrible start to the year. I cant understand how he didn’t survive it after seeing some bigger stacks at that corner over the years. Absolutely, death in any sport is sad but for me personally death in motor racing hits even harder. It doesn’t matter how safe cars are made it just takes the wrong angle of impact.

Maybe the pubs are all empty at that time have you checked? They do a lot of crashing though don’t you think? You don’t see many clean passes and sadly it is no stepping stone for young drivers with ambition.
|
|
Well I didn’t want him to win his rookie season because it would have been a bit of an insult to guys like Clark, Stewart, Rindt, Prost and Senna etc who weren’t given a chance to win their rookie seasons as they weren’t given the plumb drive first time out. This season I don’t mind but I doubt he will. What did he do last season that even old Jenson couldn’t have done given that car?
|
|
OEJ- I do agree that it would be better to have clean racing, I also don’t like control tyres, control brakes etc, and the list goes on…..I believe that if a company develops a better car then the other should have to improve to keep up. What I am saying about your statement ‘no-one cares’ is that it is a load of shyte, the sport still has a huge following and while two makes of V8 are offered for sale in Australia it will continue to have that support. It is also sad that it is not a stepping stone into F1 but it is not as refined and young drivers who have tried and failed to get into European open wheelers still come back and drive V8’s. Every sport has it’s rules and also behaviors that some fans like and some dislike.
|
|
They should rename it “Who can set fire to the most thousand dollar bills in one afternoon?”. A huge following? Considering not one person outside of Australia (pop only 20 mil) pays any attention to it I wouldn’t call it huge. A lot of these fans don’t follow any other form of motorsport either, which makes me question, are they even MOTOR RACING fans at all? It’s just like Ozzie dramas on TV, the same actors playing different characters year after year. Australia has a very proud and respected motor racing history but no future sadly.
|
|
I suppose it depends on what you consider a huge following.

Wazza, The big question here is, and i’m the man to ask it Stoner v Hamiltion- Cage Fight who’s your money on?? Both young and girlish- i’ll take Stoner- go Aussies

Well, I guess motorsports for me is going to kick off as soon as my new kart gets here. Going to hopefully run some races around Florida, Georgia, etc. and then head back to Utah and go racing there, Nevada, and California. Maybe venture up to Washington and down to Arizona once before its time to go back to school. Both my little brothers have already been racing their karts this year and my middle brother is waiting to race his new dirt track car. Snowmobile racing for me is done this year. I went and looked at Ashley Cooper’s crash and I hate to say it, but between better car design and probably better safety equipment, he might still be here today. V8 should look to our NASCAR for some safety hints.

Well, The v8’s are unexciting. Its just a two horse race. There really is only two cars in the race after all, thanks to all the control items they are forced to have. Bring back the glory days of many makes and models!! I would give anything to watch all the R32, R33 and R34 skylines, BMW’s and everyone else spank the aussie cars hard!! I bet that the winfield R32 GTR’s would still spank the cars of today. Imagine how a R34 Skyline tuned by the right people, would spank a falcooon and a crapadore. My 2 cents. And yeah… I have owned a skyline…
Any advice will be happily accepted, until all forgotten on course. |
