Federer wins More than Tiger ?

Do u think Federer (Tennis) will win more Majors that Tiger in the End ? THere’s a distinct possibility Federer is 26 yo and already has 12 Majors (or Grand Slams titles).
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

I don’t think it’s worth comparing. Federer will undoubtedly retire in his early 30’s, and Tiger will be winning majors in his 40’s (if he decides he still want’s to play). Additionally, Federer has to play only 8? individuals to win one, and while that should’nt make it any less important, Golfers have to beat 124.

You got a valid point there. But somehow it’s human nature to compare … even if it’s not on equal footing …or level playing field so to speak. How the hell do you match up: Ali in Boxing vs Air Jordan in Basketball vs Armstrong Cycling vs Schmacher F1 vs Bradman Cricket…...and so on so forth. Pretty senseless in many ways, but…...

They are both athletes you won’t see for another 100yrs. Despite the technological advances Federer will surpass LAVER and Tiger will surpass NICKLAUS. They are both well ahead of their time just like Don Bradman and Babe Ruth.

Tiger also needs to play against the elements on the day. Roger only plays against his opponent. I do not think you can compare.

Federer’s good shots make it harder for his opponent’s to return the ball. He can directly overpower an opponent. Tiger’s good shots have no direct effect on his opponent’s shots – their balls remain exactly where they hit them last. With 100+ opponents it is inevitable that a handful of them will have a great tournament. Anyone that regularly reaches the top 5 in golf tournaments is an exceptional talent – to win more than one in the same calendar year shows a tremendous combination of skill and tenacity.
Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. - BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF |

I get the feeling that Federer has peaked or plateaued, he was beaten a couple of times last year – eg by Nalbandian – and he has come back to the pack. The Oz Open this week will show the truth. Tiger shows no signs of peaking or plateauing – I am thinking he is just getting better. The other guys know they are playing for 2nd place, but in tennis the following pack are smelling blood and they know Federer is now more beatable than ever. And Tiger has another 10 years at least of top golf. No way will Federer still be at the top at age 36 in 10 years time. Tiger will win more. And golf is 165,396,309 times better than tennis anyway.

Tennis careers don’t go as long as golfers so no.

Well that proves it. Federer is not 100%.

Tiger has lost too….many times over in fact.

Both are phenominal athletes but to compare them is impossible. For starters the bounce of the ball on a tennis court is fairly predicatble, Granted there are different surfaces but ezch one has it’s own nuances that the players can predict when the see how there opponant has struck the ball. Golfers can hit their best shot of the week and find themselves in the middle of the fairway – in a divot & therefore lead to a potential dropped shot while not resulting in a bad swing. May hit a great shot that hits a sprinkler head & cause a golfer to lose a tournament etc. Tennis players can see what there opposition is doing and react eith offensively or defensively, Golfers have no way of controlling or forcing an error or their competition. Therefore we should celebrate both these athletes for the talents that they are & not compare them against each other. It’s like trying to Compare Wayne Gretzky to Tiger Woods, Federer & Michael Tuck (I used Michael not because he was the best or most dominant, But he does have a grand final trophy cabinet to be envied – 8 night & day cups – Yes I’m a Hawks supporter) & the when comparing athletes it always comes down to the winningest performer.

Hmmm…and I was just starting to like you :P Unfortunately, some of those GF trophies were at the expense of the Bombers:( I agree with your comments, having played both tennis and golf they can’t be compared. However, without answering the original question, I think as a rule, golf majors are far harder to come by than tennis Grand slams.

Dont I know it…........My father is a mad Bombers supporter and a friend of Kevin Sheedy’s – But alas both my brother and I bleed brown and gold. I’m teaching my son to say “Grandpa, Whose Hirdy” so next time we call back to Oz I can keep the tradition alive.

Tiger hits a staionary ball. Federer hits balls coming at him at speeds of upto 200 k/ph. Federer has to be on top of his game for 2 weeks. Tiger for 4 days. If Federer has a bad day tournament over, if Tiger has a bad day he has 3 other days to catch up. Who would win in a Fight?? Who is the better athelete? Sorry Tiger, Rodge has got you covered. Tiger woods is the greatest golfer on earth and will be for a few more years, Rodge is just about gone. Tiger’s missus is heaps better looking, so i know who i’d prefer to be

If Federer has a bad day tournament over, if Tiger has a bad day he has 3 other days to catch up. I think he would have one day to catch up or he misses the cut.

Different ball game.

I heard that Federer has been diagnosed with some sorta blood infection – not really serious but its still an infection or condition – which explains why he was not 100% at the Aust Open in Jan. But I see he is back playing and he got beaten by Marty Fish from the USA (ranked about 100) last week !

Tiger isn’t playing 6 or 7 people to win the tournament he plays 150+... Roger has to be on top of his game to win…... Tiger wins with his B game….. and the first 3 players that Federer plays are not very good…. can’t say the same for PGA TOUR. everyone is very capable of winning. tottally different scale…..
|
|
I think we are in agreement that Tiger is the man. I was defending him saying he does not have 3 days to recover a bad round, he only has one or he misses the cut. Federer however also sometimes wins with his B game and anyone who breaks the records of previous greats in any sport is a legend, Federer included. It’s just that no-one is better than Tiger in any sport.
