Just read your article, enjoyed it.

Quick one, do you think Casey will have a good future @ Augusta???
And perhaps even win it?

The 2 putt he made on the 5th was brilliant...and can only assume nerves got the better of him on the back nine...

He defn has the length for the course... 8O

Thanks for the kind words Mau

Yes I think he (Casey) is the sort of player who in time could win at Augusta. The fact that he did so well on debut indicates that he will. That was a very impressive performance. It must go down as one of the best debuts in recent years I would think apart from that of Izawa in 2001.

This was only Casey's sixth start in a major interestingly enough and before today 66th had been his best in those starts but there is enough about what Casey has already shown to suggest he has the game to win here or anywhere for that matter in time. He had also finished 10th at the Players Championship two weeks ago. He does have a pretty darn good all round game.

Nerves may have been a factor today but it was likely inexperience as much as anything else on a golf course where experience is so important that cost him today. Just look at the at leaderboard and see the ones who have been here several times coming to the top.

Bruce,
It was sensational watching it unfold yesterday afternoon, but very enjoyable to read your re-cap today. Being a huge Ernie fan I was pulling for him, but Phil has been a class act and really took the tournament by the scruff in brilliant fashion.
Through a buddy I got to have lunch and an afternoon with Paul Casey in London last April. He impressed me as very confident and cocky in his own ability. And when he carried the corner of the short par 4 8th with a 3 wood at The Wisley and landed on the green I was blown away ohmy.gif 295 yards towering carry with no breeze..he is as strong as an ox!!! He just party's a bit too hard still, but has some real fire and this taste of the big time will drive him to greater heights I think.

Thanks. Appreciated your insight on Casey also. I agree that now he has seen what it feels like to be in the heat of the battle in a major he will become even more determined to go a couple of levels higher.
