I have heard it said during golf commentry that Adam Scott has one of the best swing actions in the game. Yet I see that he chooses to use the new Titleist AP2 cavity Back irons rather then the Zm blades.
For someone with such a good swing why would he not use the blades that are designed for golfers with his skill level?

Because he wants to putt more & chip less.

Cavity backs, although they make the sweet spot bigger, they also dilute the sensitivity of the sweet spot, so in a way it helps, but by the player not getting the best possible feedback from playing and practicing, the player using the cavity back is losing important information the brain needs to keep the swing as precise as possible.

Unfortunately you can’t have everything. It’s a sacrifice one way or another.

Limited practise perhaps. It doesn’t make sense to practise on tools that you are not going to perform with.

Doesn’t he mix and match? I think I’ve seen him with a blade in hand some shots… I know the guy that builds Adam’s dad’s clubs… I’ll ask him to get the gossip from dad Scot….

your starting to see allot of ‘combos” out there…guys who will hit 3-4 iron cavities..then blades or muscle backs…...

Getting the best result possible is not the only reason people play golf for. I would get no satisfaction seeing my bad shots improve just because I bought the latest game-improvement irons.

Vanity isn’t the only reason people choose blades – some wish to earn their shots, love tradition or simply love the look of them.
