Bruce, in your opinion can you name your Top12 courses in the Melbourne metropolitan area. We might get some real honest debate with this subject !

"Golf is played between the ears"

I bet i know what the top one will be:P

Bump, hello Bruce if your there, what’s the answer ?
Jon…

Hi Golfguy and Vossgl

I really haven’t played enough golf courses in the Melbourne Metro area to have that many to judge from but of the courses I have played and or have sufficient knowledge of to make a judgement I would still rate Royal Melbourne Composite as my number one just ahead of Kingston Heath, then Victoria Golf Club, then Huntingdale, then perhaps Metropolitan. I have been on others but it is so long since I have been that it would be unfair to rate them on that. I have played a couple of the country courses such as Portsea which I liked and Norman’s course at the National Golf Club which I really liked but I’m not in the business of making judgements of courses I have little knowledge of so will leave it at that.

Sorry I can’t be more specific.

titheridge should be all over this thread with his brash opinions. Where is he?

That’s fair enough Bruce. Now that we have ‘your answer’ perhaps we can encourage some member feedback. My list will follow. Remember we are talking metro area of Melbourne.

"Golf is played between the ears"

All became a bit to subjective so I decided to split the ratings simply into two groups of six, in no firm order.

Group 1 :

Royal Melb’ne
Metropolitan
Kingston Heath
Victoria
Woodlands
Peninsula

Group 2 :
Commonwealth
Yarra Yarra
Huntingdale
The Heritage
Keysborough
Long Island

Honorable mentions to Cranbourne & Riversdale.

Great courses all.

Some more …. in my humble blah blah ….

1. RM West
2. Kingston Heath
3. Victoria
4. Metro
5. RM East
6. Peninsula South
7. Commonwealth
8. Yarra
9. Woodlands
10.Huntingdale

I think the bigger question is “how do you get to play them?”
