The recently published 2008 Sweeney report claims memberships and interest in golf is at an all time low. Max Garske, the PGA boss, has attacked the credibility of the report. It would be interesting to read what the ISG members have to say. The link below will take you the article

His last statement says it all really, nothing like being reactive, just another public servant with no work ethic, no connection to reality and not prepared to look further than his desk… the JOB is GOD, and he will be bowed down to….

Unless golf in this country becomes PROACTIVE, we are on a slippery slope….

This is terrible the way the industry is, who is to blame for this?
and how are we going to turn things around?

It’s obvious the current administration is wrong in so many ways it’s scary…

Has anyone else noticed the average age at your club is quite high? I am 47 and I am STILL the youngster of the foursome on most Saturdays.

I began just before Greg Norman rose to prominence and the change regarding golf in Australia before and after was significant. It was diffucult to get a tee time after but not before. It is like the before time again.

That being said, I believe that the Sweeney Report’s sample size was not large and perhaps not representative.

Like I said before, reactive not proactive. It’s obvious, and why it was great when we had the world number one… I wouldn’t be surprised if the powers that be believe we need another world number one to get golf back on track in Australia.

May be the P.G.A need a good boot in the arse and start promoting the game better, And maybe the game need to be diversified

the golfing public need to flood the e-mail in boxes of the TV stations and newspapers asking “what about us?”. Then we need to tune in when it is on.

We might get a better response from SBS in between the soccer and sex.

Do you know the teaching curriculum for a trainee, All you do to get a pass is your give a book on teaching basics and have to give three practical lessons in front of the P.G.A member, A joke and people wonder why the world average has gone out to 101. Customers are treated like a can of beer.
There not educated in anatomy which is wrong, they should be.

Guru is right it’s about time all you guys start blowing horns and get noticed and turn things around, I feel for you guys it’s terrbile the way you are treated
