g’day guys,can someone please explain to me why i seem to get the same distance with pw and 9iron. then with the 5 and 7 and can someone also let me know rough distance of each club. this would be much appreciated

my distance vary around 10 metres or so between clubs, eg 5 iron goes around 180 and 7 around 160, are they all the same offset or are some lengthened and some not?

It could be many things? Depending on the clubs/brand you have, your lofts could be out, your shaft length in certain clubs may be wrong. Maybe your 9 iron is the same length as your PW? Go and get them checked out with your local pro. As for how long you should hit each club? We are all different hummers. As an example, if you hit a 5 iron 150, add on around 10% for your 4iron etc as a guide.

Assuming your irons are from the same set, it’s your swing.For the longer irons, you are probably flipping the club, adding loft, matching the loft on the shorter irons. Video your swing to see if your hands are ahead of the ball at impact with a forward leaning shaft.

hummers: If you happen to own a set that all go the same distance then it could be that you are hitting the ball with the same bit of all the clubs, the leading edge, or that you flatten the right hand so much coming into impact that the loft is increased a huge amount and you hit rain makers. This is more common than most think for when looking to fit players of higher handicaps!

So first up get the local pro to have a look at your impact alignments to see if you are scooping. If not then the clubs need looking at.

thanks for the input i will clear up a couple of things first, clubs are all the same brand,pw and 9 is only about 1-2 cm max different in length so they may explain something?.guru was right i tend to catch the ball thin,not a big hitter of the ball, not my major concern at the moment just worried about consistant striking.150m average for 5iron so im guessing 10m different between each club is about normal?
