I just saw Ryan Moores golf swing on Foxtel in super slow motion – half way back his club is way off plane & nearly vertical, however, he drops the club about 45 degrees to get it on plane & on the inside on the downswing – which is very obvious. Why doesn’t his coach fix his backswing or is it true your backswing is not important in the golf swing. How is the best way to drop the club on the inside?

It’s all about impact alignments, that is all the ball knows.

I have not seen Moores swing but your description of it laying flatter vs its backswing is a fun drill to try out.

If you have a steep backswing, when you lay it flatter by a tiny bit you feel it a LOT. Try it with flashlights closing your eyes and see how easy it is too get back to closer to plane than your starting point.
