shanking L & S wedge

with some regularity i hit the ball with blade side of the hosel with these two wedges .. they are the same brand and different from my other irons.. this happens mainly on 1/2 or less swings

i need to fix it as its my most repeated miss

yeah i know i am probably standing too close to the ball.. but it feels i am set up perfectly

i now move feet 2 inches from the ball after i set up with the L &S wedge and that fixes it (that’s when i remember .. i often forget under pressure)

it seems these two clubs are more upright than my pw .. and they have similar length shafts

NOTE: i never do this this my PW

So my question is ….do you think getting the lie adjusted in line with the PW would help?

or should i go just go buy wedges froom the same manufacturer as the iron set?

( i’m sick of my player partners saying “shank you’‘)

Read Curing Shanks Part One and Two

It is not the arrow, it is the Indians use of it:)

Shanking is caused by quitting. Make sure you turn smoothly through the ball.

yes .. the knob on the end of the club

:)

i read the articles a few months back and it has helped ( and i,ll read them again).. at least it does not happen every game anymore… ..
it just so anoying when it comes straight out the blue ..it such a bad miss cause it costs at least two more stokes as it always happens green side, then you get bunkered or in the bushes :(
..

I used to shank my wedges too…..yesterday my pro looked at the way I hit….
realised that

1) I am not accelerating through the ball
2) Clubface was open @ impact…...

just an update on the shanks…
i have been using the set up from the article guru pointed out religiously and have not had a shank in 4 rounds ..

it has given me new confidence inside 50m.. and my game has really improved around the greens ..

proof is i had 8 over at royal pines on saturday and my h/c is 15.. and i only hit 5 or 6 fairways… i knocked it close all day

Thanks for the update. Love it when a plan comes together:)

You ought to, they are great articles.
