Tips for my swing

Would appreciate some feedback and tips to improve my golf swing. Some background on my game ….. I’m a 18-19 handicapper, hit my 7 iron to about 140-142m, driver about 220m. In the video below, I am hitting a 9 iron. Video from the back. Think I need to straighten up my left hand a little more. First time recording my swing and viewing it.

Yes it was at Morack. Someone throw me a bone? Is the video taken to far to provide any feedback?

Hey Ruud, not an expert but: You seem to have a fairly early wrist break and a steep takeaway causing the club to come a little inside on the way back. If you have a look at the 6 second mark on your video from behind you will see that half way back the club is already inside your feet. Maybe try sweeping the clubhead away a little lower and with quiet hands on the takeaway. If you put another golf ball about 9 inches straight behind the one you’re going to hit, and try to knock it away on the backswing you should get the idea. Like most of us you stand up through impact (early extention). If you watch your head position in the video from behind you will see what I mean. Your head comes up and backward through impact. We’ll never be pros but they are good for comparison: ).Particularly things like where the club is half way back, keeping width on the backswing (no collapsing at the top). Also posture and maintaining that posture through impact. http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Tks for the feedback. Yes, understand what you mean by taking it away lower at the start. Will try that again. Someone did give me that tip a very long while back and has been forgotten.

Same problem as me I expect. It’s all about D plane :) Note: all pros have left the building !

No worries, like I said not an expert. Hopefully one of the few real experts left chime in : )

You should go to this. You sound like the type of guy that would get a lot out of it. http://forums.iseekgolf.com...

I have seen it said that a low and slow takeaway is rubbish and that an early wrist break is good. But your head coming up through impact is not good. It could move forward a little but must remain at the same height until after impact.

Hi Rudd, I’d like to see some clearer videos of your golf swing before jumping in. If you can re video them with the following, A club indicating stance line Face on view, Stance line indicated If you have a better quality of camera with a quicker shutter speed that would also help with shaft blurr. A description of what normal ball flight and shape you hit? Where does your bad shots go? What do you hit more thin or fat shots? What are your intentions when making a swing. I may be asking a lot here but I’d hate to give someone advice without enough information. Look forward to hearing from you. Steven

Thanks Steven, I will see if I can get it done with the wife’s DSLR camera. In terms of bad shots, these are new irons and I’m just taking them out on the course this weekend. Will let you know. This set of irons are Mizuno MP53 with TX tour stiff shafts (about 106gm) Previous irons were Mizuno MX300 with Dynalite TT regular shafts (about 114gms). With my old clubs the irons weren’t very accurate for me. Tried the NS Pro 950stiff shafts at a Mizuno demo day and they were much more accurate. I would say I would hit it thin most of the time on bad shots as I tend to look up. My divots are shallow or sometimes no divot. (clean hit shots). Need to hit down more I suppose.

VC, yes noted the Albert Park trackman day earlier but am playing golf that day and am unable to make it. Would like to do it sometime down the track though.
